Doctors seek kitchen knife ban EDWARD BLACK

Key points • Doctors claim long kitchen knives serve no purpose except as weapons • 55 out of 108 homicide victims in Scotland were stabbed last year • Police superintendents say a ban would be difficult to enforce

Key quote "Many assaults are impulsive, often triggered by alcohol or misuse of other drugs, and the long pointed kitchen knife is an easily available, potentially lethal weapon, particularly in the domestic setting" - Dr Emma Hern, writing in British Medical Journal

Yep. And then she feeds the leg of lamb to the police who have come to investigate. Except I think it maybe have been a Twilight Zone episode rather than Alfred Hitchcock.

Before you put the meat in your mouth, do you bother to cut it?

:)

Or do you just bite into it and use your teeth as little knives - similar to how dogs eat their meat.

"They also have the highest rate of street violence anywhere and it seems that the Scottish liquids they over-consume may have something to do with the problem."

Truth bump. Also the mega-lenient British "justice" system coddles criminals, but severely punishes citizens defending themselves. British law has become an abomination due to activist liberal judges.

We have been warned.

take it one step further - Only baby food will be allowed. No more need for those nasty knifes and forks. Yes, forks, they have those pointy things on them. And the only permissible writing instrument would be the jumbo crayon.

Next, a nation on Thorazine (except for the elites, of course).

Knife Control....Then Stick Control.....Then they will just handcuff everyone in public

LMAO!

I think we should ban paper too. One could paper-cut a victim into a bloody mess.

Perhaps running water too, or heck, all water in possession of humans b/c you can drown someone in it.

Chief Superintendent Tom Buchan, president of the Association of Scottish Police Superintendents, said although a ban on sharp, pointed kitchen knives would be welcome, it could be difficult to enforce.

The entire British Isles are devolving into a raft o' pussies.

What about pointed sticks and 16-ton weights? Also banned?

If some people cannot get the simple truth that weapons don't kill, it's the man, who kills, then they can easily propose something outrageously stupid like this.

And here you see the police mindset for all to view. "Make everything that isn't mandatory prohibited"

Proof positive that doctors ought to stick to doing things that they presumably (but not always as observe the malpractice deaths in the USA) know something about - doctoring, and keep their busybody noses out of the rest of the world. The stupid c**t who made this statement obviously never cooked anything other than instant coffee.

On the old sailing ships, on long voyages, the captain would have the points of all the sea men's knives with a blade length of 6 inches or more broken off. In case of a fracas between crewmen, they couldn't stab each other and reach the heart.
Doesn't do any good about slit throats, disemboweling, and what not, but there ya go.

Likely, the Brits will come up with a ban on pointed knives over a certain length. Such knives will have to be blunt, like butter knives. Smaller knives, say under 4 inches, will still be allowed to have a point.

What a sad, sad state the UK is in.

Insert Random Scottish joke here:

The patient was being interviewed at the hospital.

"How do you like the hospital?" asked the aide.

"The nurses are very good and so is the treatment" came the reply. "But the food gets a bit boring."

"What do you mean, boring?"

"Well, we get Haggis for breakfast, Haggis for lunch and then Haggis again for supper."

"Well what do you expect?" asked the aide. "This is the Burns unit"

The approximate length of the exposed blade of a box cutter is what? About one inch or 2.5 centimeters? Have more than 3,000 Scots been murdered in a span of minutes by knife wielding chefs and housewives?

You can kill someone with a well placed thrust of a sharp pencil, or a blow to the head from a frozen haggis. Should the Scots ban pencils and pens, or the national dish?

I would ask whether the people of my ancestors' homeland have gone completely insane, but by having to ask it that question is already answered. I apparently owe the English thanks for having driven my forebears away when they did.
