New Orleans mayor sorry about 'inappropriate' remarks
National Post ^ | January 18, 2006 | Canadian Press

NEW ORLEANS -- Mayor Ray Nagin apologized Tuesday for a Martin Luther King Day speech in which he predicted New Orleans would be a "chocolate" city once more and asserted "God was mad at America."

"I said some things that were totally inappropriate...It shouldn't have happened," Nagin said, explaining he was caught up in the moment as he spoke to mostly black spectators, many of them fearful of being shut out of the city's rebuilding.

During the speech Monday, Nagin, who is black, said the hurricanes that hit the United States in quick succession were a sign of God's anger toward the country and black communities, too, for their violence and infighting. He also said New Orleans has to be a mostly black city again because "it's the way God wants it to be."

*snip*

Nagin said the other main point he hoped to make Monday was when blacks do return, they must work to stamp out crime and political infighting that have held them back.

New Orleans was more than 65-per-cent black before hurricane Katrina. The storm displaced about three-quarters of the city's population. Most of the estimated 125,000 residents who have been able to return are white.

I hope this Mayor receives a "Katrina result", i.e. is blown away, figuratively, in the upcoming election.

Sure would like to see a crime stats graff after this.

Nagiin isn't sorry, he said it, he meant it. Hillary isn't sorry for her plantation remark, believe me, that remark was intentional, even if a republican calls for an apology from her, who would believe it.

RATS think a simple "I'm sorry" covers their A$$, well it doesn't!

Which is worse? The expected pandering by Mayor Mochachino, or the chorus of "Mmmm-Hmmmm!"s, "Yessir!"s and "That's right!"s by the crowd? They are either (black) sheeple, too afraid to walk out or dispute his stupidity, or they are like-minded racists. Either is inexcusable. Shame on them.

Douglas Brinkley, a MSNBC historian and from New Orleans, said last night that within the next few days, we're going to hear the real story about Nagin and the MANY 'breakdowns' he's had since Katrina.

He was completely disgusted with Nagin and said the sooner he's out of office, the better, preferrably before August.

Sure would like to see a crime stats graff after this.

New Orleans had the highest murder rate in the country. Their murder rate dropped 20% because of the evacuation of the city after the hurricane. It was reported the other day that there have been only four murders since the hurricane. [That number may have risen since the report.] When people were shot during/after a parade the other day Hizzoner the Mayor remarked things are getting back to normalcy.

Nagin is living proof that the guy that wrote ,"The Peter Principle" was right.
Ready for the dirty little secret, the rat voters in LA. now live in 20 states and they aren`t coming home. Watch for some sort of way to let them vote.
They have to, cause if they can`t, Rats in LA. are doomed.

Once again, the double-standard comes into play here. Actually, a double-double standard if you think about it.

Double-standard #1 - If this were a black republican mayor, he'd be asked for his resignation on the spot.

Double-standard #2 - If this were a white republican mayor, well you can just imagine what would happen. Imagine a white republican mayor saying this; “It’s time for us to rebuild a New Orleans, the one that should be a vanilla New Orleans.” “This city will be a majority white city. It’s the way God wants it to be. ”

Just ask Trent Lott.

But it's ok if you're a democrat that happens to be black (or a certain democratic senator from NY), I guess. A simple "oops, sorry" should make things all better.
