Mum's the word on Gore wiretapping
worldnetdaily ^ | 20 January 2006 | Les Kinsolving

Presidential press secretary Scott McClellan today refused to acknowledge the fact that then-Vice President Al Gore led a Clinton administration program that potentially could have bugged every phone in the country, this after the Democrat hammered President Bush Monday for allowing wiretaps of suspected terrorists.

The "Clipper Chip" project would have placed a chip on new phones, allowing the federal government the means to eavesdrop.

"Isn't that worth pointing out to the American people, after [Gore] accused President Bush of breaking the law and violating the Constitution?" asked WND.

"I think you just did," responded McClellan. "This is an administration that is forward-looking, Les. We're focused on the priorities of the American people. … No, I'm not going to get into that."

WND also asked the spokesman about first lady Laura Bush's unusually strong denunciation of Hillary Clinton for comparing the way the Republicans control the House of Representatives to a plantation.

Asked WND: "Has she ever been as outspoken as this before, in your knowledge?"

The admin has an almost pathological inability to get its message accross. It makes the nation weaker. Very bad.

(Or his mother?)

Yawn. That's an extremely tattered and old hat around these parts.

Check this link for NewsMax article about this "stunning" revelation. Searching Free Republic for nuggets such as that kind of puts a totally different spin onto that Geico Gecko commercial, eh?

Gore always has been up the bloody wall.

And at one time was world's most dangerous dullard.

Recruited to be the vice-presidential running mate for the single cynical reason his sub-normality guaranteed the senate could never convict and/or bounce the fatally flawed, recidivist, lying, looting, thieving, mass-murdering, treasonous and impeached Billy-Bubba Blythe Cli'ton the Hell outta Dodge.

Sometimes you need to step into the ring and sling some mud back at your opponent.

Bush thinks he is taking the higher ground here....after the MSM gets through with him, he may not feel this was the proper course.

its not inability, they just do not want too.
Really, I think I would do the same, why justify this argument by answering it. It would make them appear small by participating but it would go no where in the Dem owned MSM.

Not defending his own administration against insanity from the left is fine and dandy while an incumbent.

But not defending against attacks by prospective challengers to that office (who have done everything except sign papers declaring their nomination) weakens the entire incumbent party, not just the incumbent presidency.
