Democrat Mike Beebe leads Republican Asa Hutchinson 46 percent to 40 percent in the race for governor of Arkansas, according to a new poll by Rasmussen Reports, an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication and distribution of public opinion polling information.
The telephone survey was conducted Jan. 15 of 500 likely Arkansas voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4. 5 percentage points, Rasmussen said.
Hutchinson was viewed favorably by 53 percent of the likely voters and Beebe by 55 percent.
On other matters, the report said :
Former President Clinton, a former governor of Arkansas, is viewed favorably by 56 percent of the likely Arkansas voters, but only 44 percent viewed his wife, U. S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N. Y., favorably. Fifty-seven percent of Arkansas voters believe Judge Samuel Alitos nomination to the Supreme Court should be confirmed. Sixty-one percent favor building a barrier along the U. S.-Mexico border to help combat illegal immigration. Forty-seven percent say bringing the troops home from Iraq is more important than stabilizing that country while 44 percent say stabilizing it should be the priority.
"Fifty-seven percent of Arkansas voters believe Judge Samuel Alitos nomination to the Supreme Court should be confirmed."
Paging Mark Pryor, paging Mark Pryor.....
Probably not, Beebe is the AG, and has a higher profile, but what the hey you gotta some put non-sequiter such as immigration in there.
It's hard to think that any of these two candidates can be as bad as that clown Huckabee on immigration. If 61% of the residents of Arkansas support building a wall, imagine what percentage oppose stuff like day labor sites and drivers' licenses for illegal immigrants. The republican candidate should unquestionable make it an issue.
I thought Huckabee was not running, or he was term limited. If he cant get reelected as governor it's hard to imagine him running for president. He is said to have those ambitions.
Huckabee is not running. But on immigration, it's hard to imagine either of these two can be worse then him.
Huckabee isn't running. Read the article again, it's Asa Hutchison.
Oops, sorry. I sure feel dumb. It's early and I am bleary-eyed I guess. ;)
the only way I'd vote for a democrat is over immagration, however I know that isnt their core values so that isnt going to happen.
Asa once bragged that he was sending 300 illegals a month back to Mexico during his stint with HSD.
[Wow, what an accomplishment. They could find that many in 10 minutes at the border.]
If Asa is the best the Pubbies in Arkansas can find, they are in bad shape. Too bad Rockerfeller had to drop out; his father, Winthop, was a good governor.
You're wasting your time. He said he needed more time to "review Judge Alito's record."
