You're not alone, I haven't been to a Hollywood movie in six years; nor have I rented one.

I just don't like the political stuff they produce. It's funny that they don't seem to care about not making as much money as they should, but they don't.

More power to 'em, but I think they are going down.

Thanks! I rent movies, but 9 times out of 10 they're older than 15 or 20 years. We're renting Network tonight.

It is puzzling that they don't seem to care about making money. I think what they think is that if they get "artistic" enough or the equivalent, then with the "proper" approach their message will be embraced. That's essentially the MSM's approach. They think that most of America truly thinks like they do but that they simply aren't articulating or expressing themselves correctly. So they repackage and reinvent and remake things all the while continuing to try things differently.

Just as with CNN taking on Beck, I think they're at a point now where they're having to come to grips with reality and either go down the drain as you say or to do what will make them money. Obvoiusly that's the opposite of what they've been doing.

As to Hollywood, the advent of the internet and computers in general have given consumers far more options for entertainment. Video games of far higher quality than the first few generations of arcade games are now available for home use. Good movies and other options such as mini-series on HBO or wherever are taking a chunk out of Hollywood's revenues. Not to mention that Hollywood's continued flaunting of their perverted morals have simply pissed off most of a nation, and they simply aren't playing to the mainstream, contrary to their notions. The truly good movies, and I mean movies with a decent plot/storyline, do make money as do the films for kids. The rake in the bucks.

When Reagan died, I had the privilege of being able to watch all the Reagan movies that he did during that time. He made like 15 movies to my surprise. Most of them were very, very good. Far better than the crap they put out today. Most had a good moral message too. It made me realize that the movies of yesteryear by far exceed those of today for entertainment.

At some point they're gonna come up with a way to watch movies at home or in smaller venues that don't take the overhead of the big plex movie theaters, that still give you the big screen experience. When they do, it'll be the death knell of the theaters. Who knows what that'll mean to Hollywood.
