Her call, but I think she could have helped a lot more people if she'd have given that money to a local church or the Salvation Army.

Maybe John Kerry can put in a few million to help out too. Oh wait, it's not his money. It's his wife's. I wonder if she gives him an allowance?

In other news, a budget amendment was proposed later in the day adding $1.1 million to subsidize mohair in Alaska.

Margaret Taylor's will said the government has to use her fortune to help pay down the national debt

Did I ever mention that my real name is "Pay Down the National Debt"?

"She`s a certified Idiot ."

LOL! Oh, I can't agree, she's a woman who has put her money where her mouth was. It must have given the estate planners conniption fits, not to mention the heirs. But I say good for her, if all the dems has this much honesty the country would be a better place.

What a crying shame. A lifetime of protecting and gathering assets, tossed away like a pail of sand into the ocean.

It's a shame that she didn't actually use it to help someone. Or a lot of someones.

A quick calculation.

Total National Debt: $8189 billion
Assuming 4% interest: $327.5 billion/year,$897 million per day, $37.3 million/hour, $0.0104 million/second

The Woman's fortune paid for ~100 seconds of INTEREST on the national debt.

Its not good to talk ill of the dead, but one really has to be stupid to flush more money into this deep dark black hole called the govt.

This has already been posted, but isn't it great, She probably left enough money to pay for Bill Clinton's haircuts at airports while he was president.

probably less than a fraction of a second once the Senate Appropriations committee gets ahold of it. Basically, she traded her $1.1 million for a fancy IOU from the government.

Congratulations, Miz Taylor, your kind gift has now funded 3 acres of asphalt in the dominion of Grand Dragon Robert 'Sheets' Byrd! Thank you for participating in the system!

Won't be a drop in the bucket to the national debt but it could have surely erased all my personal debt.
