Almost every year my first grade boys are better at the girls at reading and math. It is especially true this year, even with a LOT more boys in the class. I do think later that some things happen. At least here, sometimes (with some people), it seems to be priorities. Is football practice and video games more important to school? It's a hard choice for some to make.

Do you think that maybe the lack of discipline has a role in this too? Teachers really can't do much to a kid that acts up or refuses to do school work (and trust me, kids KNOW that and some will take advantage of that fact!)
Expelling the unruly ones, to the student, is like giving them a free mini holiday. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

Your statement seems to blame the boys. I don't think extra activities are the problem. The punishment given to boys at an early age fits for girls but is the worst thing you could do for boys. They are expected to act like girls. And then there is the feminazis in leadership positions. No, I think the schools and the system are to blame.
