I made my teacher/principal wife read The War on Boys. It was hard for her...all she had been taught in Ed. school was at variance with what Ms. Sommers empirically demonstrates in her book. It was a bitter pill for her to swallow. But now with two boys of our own...she sees that Ms. Sommers was correct and she has had to adapt her Supervisory skill and redirect the teaching method of the teachers who are her direct reports.
Slowly but surely we can right the ship of education in this country. What it will take it the expurgation of the 60's hippie crowd and all of their acolytes.
