Local, state, and Border Patrol on the border need better arms to include LAWs.

out of curiosity - how often do US soldiers stray into Mexican territory? Never.
And I dare say, the Border Patrol never crosses the line, either. And I'm not being sarcastic, I believe that to be the truth.

It was either military or mercenary personnel escorting/providing cover for drug smugglers.

The "disconnect" is Mexican Vote.
Unlike Bob Dole, 'W' was able to pull in about 30-40% of the Mexican Vote Nationally.
That is because he has some goodwill among Mexican Community. Despite their best efforts, Democraps were not able to portray him as anti-immigration, thus anti-Mexican biggot.
If he or any Republican takes any step that Democraps can portray as anti-Mexican racism, they would win the Presidency.
If 'W' did not pull the percantage that he did among Mexican community, Gor/Kerry would be your CICs.
I believe this trade-off can not continue. If Mexican's are pissed than so be it. Loose a term or two but secure the borders.

Governor Perry wants to put the Texas National Guard on the borderI would be VERY SURPRISED to see him do that and I would be very proud of him for finally taking a firm stand. If only he would ...
To: blackdiamondracer
Was this actually a military operation or were they drug dealers dresed up as military? Some (if not all) of their military are part of the Mexican drug cartel's. Mexico is a very corrupt country.

"Having him as HSS is a mistake."
He's just following orders. But you are right, he's a mistake.

Our leaders have plenty of survival instinct. They're politicians! Unfortunately their plans for survival don't include the unwashed masses.

If we're not going to send the military to the border then, at least give the Border Patrol and local officials some heavy hardware. This situation is getting ridiculous.

¿Quién sabe?
The Mexican Army has a desertion rate of 9% to 11% per year!

Oh, they plan to survive. Why do you think they just rehired John Magaw?
They don't care if we survive, obviously.

"One more reason to support Perry. He actually is trying to use the Guard on the border."
He needs to stop trying and do it. Sign the order, get them on the border immediately with orders to blast the living Hell out of anything crossing the border to threaten our BP agents.
