Boy the AP has been on a roll today with the classics: The Army is Broken, Bush knew about Katrina, Torture was condoned, and on and on.

I was watching a documentary on the Discovery channel and they were showing REGULAR Infantry training going on with live ammon in a kill house. The US Army is NOW training their NORMAL troops to a level most countries ELITES would have trouble matching. Do NOT mess with us World. The US Amry has become the best killing machine in the world.

I don't get how having 150,000 troops of the entire American military deployed at one time equals "stretched"??? Are we really THAT weak? (somewhat rhetorical)
150,000 could fit into one sports stadium in on American city.
Is this all some subversive reverse psychology scheme to throw the Iranians off?

Know your enemy, and what motivates them. If we were illiterate it would not change. Some of us find it interesting to analyze such propaganda.

Wow think about it a few thousand little sheet heads with no formal training managed to do what Hitler and Tojo's armmies couldn't. Nor could Korea, the Vietcong with Red China and Russia backing them up. Sure we wipe them all out but these tough little savages crawling around in their stinking nightgowns break our back. Riiigghhht!

BS. Only 12 out of 37 US Army Combat Brigades are currently deployed overseas.I'm no expert on these things but, people should realize that the remaining 25 combat brigades are at varying states of readiness. Some are "off-line" while they train-up, and others are re-organizing under the current divisional re-design. Plus, you have to keep a portion of your ready units oriented on other threats, like North Korea for instance.

Krepinevich is executive director of the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, a nonprofit policy research institute. Whenever I read the phrase 'nonprofit research institute', I immediately think of John Belushi coughing in Animal House. Every one of them has a neutral sounding name and an agenda as long as your arm.

The 136-page report represents a more sobering picture of the Army's condition than military officials offer in public. While not released publicly, a copy of the report was provided in response to an Associated Press inquiry.Like I'm gonna trust the ASSociated PRESS-titutes to tell me the truth about what's in the study. Just a bunch of folks who don't want us to win and they're doing everything they can to make that come true.

What exactly does "Broken" mean when it comes to the Army?It is a pretty obscure term to use. Seems like this report was picked through to find the worse case scenario, per usual.

If the Armed forces recruitment is down, I blame it on every single leftist in the United States. They are the pukes that bad mouth this country at every turn, and then take advantage of it when it comes to personal enrichment. I despise them completely.

Yeah....if I want the truth, I'll ask Sarge, txradioguy, Laurita, Allegra, CMS, jmpmstr4u2 or the many other soldiers or civilians who'll tell the REAL TRUTH!
I simply do not trust the Has-Been Media to tell me anything about the military...they seem to hate them so much!

The most valuable army in the world is one in which the overwhelming majority of the personnel are combat veterans. That, right now, is what makes the US forces the most feared in the world.... You nailed it dead on Gaffer!

Some are "off-line" while they train-up, and others are re-organizing under the current divisional re-design. Plus, you have to keep a portion of your ready units oriented on other threats, like North Korea for instance. You are missing the point. We have ample force to do all the above and surge to meet an additional theat (Iran, North Korea etc). When are the Press types and retired talking heads going to wake up? We are at war. We cannot cling to these peace time notions of 1/3 up, 2/3s back. The threat is NOW in the ME NOT what may happen in NK or else where.
As the Army Secretary pointed out last week, it would be unpleasant but doable. The US Military is NOT "Stretched to the breaking point". That is stupid propaganda from people grinding a political ax. If you people REALLY think this nonsense is serious, how do you EVER expect to fight a real war???? Basically all the Navy, except the Marines and Seals, and most of the Air Force, are sitting around training. We have stretched forth the smallest finger of US Power and the world should be praying we don't REALLY get pissed at any of them and take the gloves off.

Exactly. I think only 10-20% of our military is deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan.
This article is total BS from the reliably leftwing AP.
