Men in Apparent Mexican Army Uniforms Confront Texas Lawmen
WOAI ^ | 01/24/2006 | Jim Forsyth

Posted on 01/24/2006 4:50:41 PM PST by AlaninSA

(SIERRA BLANCA, TEXAS) -- Local lawmen in remote west Texas came face to face with ten armed men wearing what appeared to be Mexican army camouflage uniforms who came to the aid of one of three suspected drug dealers' vehicles when it became stuck in the riverbank of the Rio Grande, law enforcement officials said today.

The incident happened in Hudspeth County, east of El Paso, yesterday, Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez, Jr, chairman of the Texas Border Sheriffs Coalition, told 1200 WOAI news.

Gonzalez says it started when Hudspeth County deputies and Texas State Police officers spotted three vehicles they suspected were transporting drugs south of Sierra Blanca, not far from the Rio Grande.

"They followed the vehicles," Gonzalez said. "One of the vehicles had a blowout, and 1400 pounds of marijuana was found in that vehicle. The driver absconded back into Mexico. The other two vehicles headed towards the riverbank. One of them crossed back into Mexico, and the third got stuck in the riverbed.

"At that time, officers saw several persons clad in BDU uniforms, BDU clothing, on this side of the river, in what appeared to be a Humvee type vehicle with what officers thought was a fifty caliber machine gun. The load of marijuana was unloaded by the persons in these uniforms and the vehicle was then set on fire."

'BDU' or 'Basic Duty Uniform' is the military term for what civilians call 'camouflage.'

Gonzalez says the men in the SUV and the uniformed men 'went back towards Mexico.'

Agent Andrea Simmons of the FBI in El Paso told 1200 WOAI news the bureau is 'aware' of the incident but is not investigating.

"At this point no federal laws that we investigate were violated," she said. "We are not involved."

Gonzalez says this is 'not an isolated incident.'

"If you don't live along the river, if you don't live in this area, you don't know what's happening here," he said.

Gonzalez elaborated on several similar incidents which have happened along the Texas Mexico border recently, all involving men wearing what appeared to be Army uniforms armed with automatic weapons, who appeared to be helping drug smugglers.

"These incidents are happening," he said.

The Mexican government is downplaying the incidents, and has said the men involved are not Mexican soldiers.

"When you see a Humvee vehicle with a fifty caliber machine gun on it, this leads you to believe this is not a vehicle being used by the drug lords, but in fact is part of the Mexican military. I think of course the Mexican government knows about this."

He says it would be highly unlikely that the men did not know they were in the United States.

"There is a river here. It is not possible not to know you have crossed the river and are in the United States," he said.

Temporary guest drug lords.

Time to station some Apache attack helicopters all along the border - these incursions would stop real quick if the perps were turned into little pieces.....

"At this point no federal laws that we investigate were violated,"

I'm guessing that smuggling a couple tons of illegal drugs into the country -- even for just a few minutes -- is okay now? If a bale of marijuana falls out in the desert and the DEA doesn't see it, is it a crime?

And let's not get started on the whole "invading the country" thing. You'd think that'd be in violation of something.

Does anyone actually expect Jorge Bush or the worthless Congress to do anything about foreign military excursions into this country to help illegal aliens break our laws?

Mexico can do as she pleases here in the good old USA. I guess they have our politicians over their oil trade barrels.

Mexican law prohibits any foreign soldier from carrying any weapon with no exceptions.

Stake some sniper teams spread out along the region. Mexican army personnel cross. Cut them down. Hell, if foreign soldiers are crossing into the US then the state is perfectly justified in activating the NG to deal with the incursion.

Bush may be "owned," but it's not by Vincente Fox.

Maybe by some donors, maybe by some ties in certain business communities...and certainly by Laura.

But he's hardly the pawn of the Kola King of Mexico.

Make the illegal invasion of the USA in time of war...a felony.

Put our troops on the border...run night ambush patrols and hunter killer ops along infiltration routes......keep gunships and tac air on station...

Put a price on the coyotes heads on this side of the border.

Maybe I'm wrong. But baseed on how Bush seems to want to coddle Mexico and Mexicans, he might as well be. His lack of attention to the border and illegals is piss poor. It's inexcusable when he talks about just about everything in terms of the War on Terror or keeping America safe.

You know, probably the only way the United States is ever going to find out the truth about whether these drug-smuggling border crossers in Mexican military uniforms are is to capture or kill one of them.

Once that happens, we'll see what interested party comes to speak on behalf of the detainee or corpse.

Why at least that hasn't happened yet speaks volumes about the Federal government's concern over our sovereign borders.

How about stopping the worthless and unwinnable federal "war" on drugs. Removing the profit motive from smuggling drugs into the US would discourage it. Also, trashing the welfare state would make a lot of illegals get up and go home, or at least find a job.

Whatever. Nothing's going to happen except the US and Mexico are going to merge in all meaningful ways, if not officially. The house-slaves that live in the US are happy about the way things are and nothing much is going to be done to fix it.
