Let's not delude ourselves.
Many of the evacuees have been on the dole for generations; and the crime that follows then is endemic to their environment and lifestyle.
The ineptness of FEMA has little to do with either the cause or effects of this horrific social/cultural malady.
Look back to the Great Society -- and the pandering to these
self-perpetuating social/economic basket cases to flag the villain here.
These individuals would stay in these motel hovels for decades, given the opportunity to feed at the trough.

Pegged that one just right.
These people are just sitting on their fat, food stamp bloated behinds continuing to "let" the producers and taxpayers of the nation provide them with free housing months after people in places hit much harder by Katrina than 'Nawlins have been busy rebuilding their lives.
C'mon there Hillary. These are folks from YOUR plantation.

Exactly. Why doesn't she just pack up, leave, find a church willing to help her, and GET A JOB. Then she could find a decent place to live and not worry like this. Seems to me that there were many offers of jobs and housing for people to take advantage of and many of those offers were not accepted. She doesn't have to stay! She's got no one to blame but herself. I know legal immigrants who could hardly speak English who are on their own now after a couple years.
