Strange ideas of 'liberated'

By: RICK REISS - For The Californian

Following the rationale of the left-wing peace movement is a tortuous road to travel. Case in point is the recent "peace vigil" staged at the Temecula Duck Pond and led by Jeeni Criscenzo.

The Jan. 15 Duck Pond vigil drew about 70 peace activists under the guise of "Bring Their Buddies Home." The presence of these left-wing activists also drew about 30 conservative counter-protesters.

Full disclosure ---- I helped organize this counter-rally with local Republicans and members of FreeRepublic.com and ProtestWarrior.com. We questioned the Democrats' "cut and run" agenda while promoting that real peace in Iraq can only occur through victory and freedom.

One self-described peacenik and regular columnist for this paper attended, as well. He described this "vigil" as nearly religious, with peaceniks meditating while being subjected to the taunting and mocking by the "pro-war" supporters. Criscenzo described this event as non-partisan.

As the saying goes, you are entitled to your own opinions, but not to your own facts. Here are a few easily verifiable facts showing that "Bring Their Buddies Home" is nothing more than a partisan organization serving a left-wing Democratic politician.

A quick domain check of the Web site "Bring Their Buddies Home" reveals that the site is registered to Jeeni Criscenzo for Congress. Criscenzo, a Democrat, is running for the 49th Congressional District seat, which includes Temecula and Lake Elsinore.

As an arm of the Criscenzo campaign, BringTheirBuddiesHome.com conveniently links back to the campaign Web site and offers a partisan speech by Jeeni Criscenzo at a Cindy Sheehan rally.

The "peace" activists utilized a number of political materials. A few volunteers planted lawn signs along Ynez Road that read "Support Our Troops ---- Bring Their Buddies Home."

This defeatist message is also advocated by white supremacist David Duke, who features a "Support Our Troops. Bring 'em Home" slogan on his Web site. David Duke is a big supporter of Cindy Sheehan, too.

At the Duck Pond, another Criscenzo volunteer passed out campaign literature. According to that flier, here's Criscenzo's position on Iraq:

"I challenge anyone to prove that the people of Iraq are better off today than they were (under Saddam). Back then, more Iraqi people were gainfully employed and had electricity and clean water. Unless they'd ticked off Saddam or his progeny, most Iraqi's (sic) could walk outside their homes without fear of being kidnapped or shot. Their museums still held exquisite artifacts from the beginning of civilization. Their children were going to school and Iraqi women enjoyed one of the most liberated societies in the Arab world."

OK, Jeeni, challenge accepted.

After viewing this Web site, please explain if the Iraqi people were feeling nostalgic for Saddam Hussein's "liberated" society while digging up their tortured dead relatives. Exquisite museum artifacts mean nothing when you're a corpse at the bottom of a mass grave.

If this is Criscenzo's idea of a liberated society, I shudder to think what she would do if elected.

Thank you for countering this message from these ghastly apparitions.

We must never again give the anti-war/anti-troops groups free sidewalk time. Thanks for being there for the troops, FR and PW!

Also, we have got to loose the "pro-war" description that the MSM gave us. When talking to the MSM, we have got to identify ourselves to the MSM as "Supporting the troops and their mission" and supporting Predisdent Bush. [Mr] T

Yeah...the MSM has been good at labeling us in that way.

It's sort of like pro-life activists being labeled as "anti-choice" zealots by the abortion lobby (which includes the MSM as well.)

I don't know if it would catch-on or not, but I like the name "Peace Through Victory" activists...
