Washington - The Senate Judiciary Committee voted along party lines Tuesday to approve the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Samuel Alito as senators turned the occasion into a broader and sometimes heated debate over the rancorous and partisan nature of the confirmation process.

"Democrats said a close vote would warn President Bush not to name such conservative judges."

LOL. I hope they give a lot of such warnings in 'close votes' in the future...

Democrats countered that the Bush administration had politicized the confirmation process by nominating staunch conservatives to the federal courts.

How DARE Bush nominate conservatives? Who does he think he is, the President of the United States?

Ginsburg approved 96-3. THREE Republican senators voted no on perhaps the most liberal Justice since Douglas, Marshall (Thurgood) and Brennan, and why only 3? Because notwithstanding her liberal views, she plainly was qualified, having (among other things) spent a decade on a United States Court of Appeals.

In 2006, nearly all Democrats will vote No on Alito, who is at least as qualified, because he may be conservative.

Let the double-standard damn them at the polls.

HELL NO!

This is what a "close vote" means as far as conservatives communicating TO liberals means:

Yeah, that'll teach President Bush, for sure! LOL! They'll get at least one more chance to give him another "lesson", maybe even two!

"It's a very different day and time" than during Clinton's nominations, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said. "There was not the polarization within America that is there today and not the defined move to take this court in a singular direction."

Feinstein is sometimes the voice of sanity among liberals, but I would challenge her to say this to my face without looking away in embarassment.

Why, back then we were all getting along!
Why, back then the democrats weren't trying to pack the court!
Why, back then there was no polarization, everyone loved
the democrat president and his choices.

But NOW, the evil Bush thinks he can put CONSERVATIVES on
the court, oh the horror.

God , democrats make me want to puke, I'll be glad when
we can finally put some in prison for leaking national
security documents.

Should a team that wins the semi-finals by only one point not use their best players in the finals?

Putting them away will never happen, the republicans don't have the spine to push such a good thing if they get it.
I get so sick and tired of hearing them on the floor of the senate, "my fellow friend" on the other side. My fellow friend my a**.

No matter how they spit their spin, a win is a win is a win. The SCOTUS score is about to go: two in 0, two in 0.

So I guess at some point in the future if there is a Democratic President ( shudder) they will understand that it will take 60 votes to block our fillibuster and with only 44 Demo Senators they need either another 16 Senators or more RINO's. Good luck Democratic party as gridlock comes to America!

Democrats plan to make an issue of his votes on subjects like abortion rights and environmental regulations.

Killing unborn babies and protecting darter snails are the Democrat's centerpiece of objection??

I received this via e-mail:

MoveOn.org is Sending Thousands of Letters to the Editor -- Click Below to Send YOUR
Letter Supporting Alito's Nomination:
http://capwiz.com/sicminc/issues/alert/?alertid=8416166&type=ME

ALERT: Today, the radical left-wing group MoveOn.org sent out an email to millions
of their minions, telling them to write a letter to the editor of their local
newspapers and demand that the Senate REJECT Judge Samuel Alito's nomination to the
Supreme Court - or even FILIBUSTER to stop a vote on his confirmation.

They sent that email just before noon. By 3:00pm, their goons had sent over five
THOUSAND email letters to editors -- with a goal of over TEN thousand letters.

We CAN fight back, and remind all of these newspaper editors that WE are in the
MAJORITY, and the wanna-be socialists at MoveOn.org are in the MINORITY. In fact,
the most recent polls show that a majority of Americans support Alito, such as the
CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll that shows 54% want Alito confirmed. Newspapers have lent
their endorsements -- even liberal papers like the Washington Post and the L.A.
Times -- all agree that Judge Alito performed well during the hearings and should be
confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

"The squeaky wheel gets the grease" -- don't let the shrill voices of the radical
Left be the only sound heard in America's local and national newspapers. Take one
minute to send YOUR letter NOW.

--snip--

TALKING POINTS:
* Congressional Democrats are using the Alito nomination as a political ploy for
their 2006 election strategy. Editorials in numerous liberal papers from across the
country, including The Washington Post, The New York Daily News, and The Los
Angeles Times have endorsed Judge Alito, saying he should be confirmed by the US
Senate. The American Bar Association, often criticized as having a liberal bias,
gave Judge Alito a "well-qualified" rating -- the highest rating one can receive
from the organization. Despite this support only one Democrat, Ben Nelson from
Nebraska, has said he will vote for Judge Alito.

* For Democrats this nomination is not about the Supreme Court, it is all about the
2006 election and about their ability to raise money from far left wing activists
early in the'06 cycle. This is why Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman
and Judiciary Committee Member, Charles Schumer (D-NY), has been so vicious, angry
and frustrated in his attacks on Judge Alito. According to a report in Sunday's
Washington Post, Republicans have their "largest cash-on-hand lead over Democrats
in more than a decade." Senate Democrats are being strong armed by far left wing
special interest groups to obstruct or stop Judge Alito's nomination at all costs,
or risk losing donations going into the 2006 elections.

* Attempts by Senators Kennedy and Schumer to malign Judge Alito in the
confirmation hearings backfired. Many recent reports and columns talked about the
embarrassing way Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee conducted themselves.
Indeed, attempts by Senator Kennedy to stop the hearings backfired. This has left
Kennedy and Schumer angry and desperate to score political points against the
President and the Republicans as the 2006 election cycle kicks off.

* Judge Alito displayed amazing temperament and brilliance in the law before the
Senate Judiciary committee. He answered over 700 questions in three days of
testimony. His qualifications and record have won the endorsement of many of the
nations top liberal newspapers. He has the support of the liberal ABA. He has the
support of Senator Ben Nelson. He has the support of Democrats who clerked for him
and know his record backwards and forwards. He has the support of his fellow
judges. The only support he does not have yet, is that of Ted Kennedy, Chuck
Schumer and far left-wing groups who will "do what it takes" to stop his nomination
for political reasons.

* The embarrassing behavior of Senators Kennedy and Schumer during the hearings,
combined with the blatant partisan politicking they are currently engaged in
surrounding the 2006 elections will backfire on many of those Senate Democrats,
particularly red state Democrats, that follow Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, and Harry
Reid over the far left edge of American politics.

NOTE: The vote on Alito is in the next few days, so we need to get these letters in
QUICKLY. Be sure to send this Alert to EVERYONE you know who wants to help fight
back against radical environmentalists, and restore American property rights! Thank
you!

Sincerely,

William Greene, President
