FORT WORTH, Texas - A man convicted of abducting a girl as she walked to elementary school and molesting her must serve nearly 400 years in prison, a judge decided Wednesday.

Jeremiah Sexton, 23, of Springtown, must serve four sentences of 99 years each.

State District Judge Wayne Salvant, calling Sexton a "serial predator," ordered the sentences to be served consecutively, making the total 396 years behind bars.

A jury Tuesday convicted Sexton on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated kidnapping.

Sexton was arrested in February and accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a then-9-year-old Arlington girl, investigators said.

A police officer in nearby Grand Prairie had noticed suspicious activity in a car at an apartment complex.

Sexton was nabbed following a chase that ended when his car hit a van and a school bus, authorities said.

The abducted girl was found with Sexton.

A second Arlington girl testified Wednesday that she believed Sexton was the man who abducted and sexually assaulted her in September 2004 while she walked to elementary school.

Sexton, when 17, was convicted and placed on two years of probation for four counts of indecent liberties with a child in Sedgwick County, Kan., court records indicate.

Tarrant County sheriff's department spokesman Terry Grisham said Sexton, following sentencing, was evaluated by mental health officials and placed in protective custody on a suicide watch.

It'll might make some people believe parts of the Bible now said to by mythical.

It looks that way since the courts are handing down such an outlandish reprieve against the perpetrator[s].

Has anyone e-mailed this to Bill O'Rielly @ Fox and/or Judge Cashmen in Vermont? The sentencing is scheduled for tomorrow. Texas Justice works..
I just hope the ACLU doesn't sue to vacate this sentencing, citing the "Vermont" precedent..

I guarantee he will be rehabilitated and in no need of conseling at the end of his stated sentences. That other judge just went about it in the wrong way.

We need more judges like Judge Wayne Salvant. He used common sense and logic. Sexton is a predator, he would probably have moved on to murder.

We surely do need more like him. Most murderers of little children don't get sentences like that. And in some places, just 5-10.

I'm betting he wished he was in Vermont.

I could never understand this type of sentencing whatsoever.

I might be wrong, but I believe this is the Judge's attempt to ensure that this scumbag is never paroled.
All too often, we hear about murderers and rapists serving 15, 20, 25 years (or even less!) of a "life" sentence.
Sentencing this scumbag to 4 - 99 year terms ensures he serves at least 60 plus years. (If he even survives the first few!)

Nope! There are two levels of indecency with a child in Texas. If it is rated a class one offense then the state can keep you the entire sentence!

If you are convicted on the secondary level, then yes, you can get out after serving at least half of your sentence.
