This is one time I disagree with Steyn. I won't write off bin boy till he's dead. Even then, his surviving disciples will need to be reckoned with.

I agree with you, in part. I think the point is that OBL is in a world of hurt and that he is trying to sound like the anti-war left/'rats/MSM is evidence thereof. That said, what a wonderful read, as is most often the case with Steyn...

When I turned on the radio the other morning and heard that Osama had offered a truce, I laughed out loud. What better indication that Osama et al. are on the run? He would never have offered a truce if he foresaw outright victory instead. Osama himself fears that he is no longer relevant.
But I agree ... Osama's head on a stick sounds great to me. Like a Pez head, but more satisfying.

"By contrast, consider this new tape from Osama or Osama (I dont rule out the possibility that its some Pashtun voice-over maestro from the Waziri branch of Equity)..."
Could be the Administration believes OBL has been spliced but for reasons of its own doesn't want to let everyone else in on it.
Until ol' Shaggy shows up on a video that can be proved to be recently made, there's no real reason to believe he isn't worm meat in Tora Bora.
