CBC apologizes for 'Harper-heil' graphic, says it was a bad cut-and-paste job

The CBC has apologized to a viewer who complained that a news graphic appeared to juxtapose the name of the prime minister-designate with the German word "heil" -- a salute usually associated with Adolf Hitler. The graphic was flashed during Tuesday night's edition of The National. It appeared beneath a shot of a Stephen Harper election sign. In an e-mail to the viewer, the executive producer of The National explained the graphic was a freeze frame of typing intended to promote the show's "campaign confidential" segment. An editor chose to capture part of the word "their" for the graphic and with a cursor before the "r", it seemed to spell heil. "We sincerely apologize for that," the e-mail said.

Why do all these "mistakes" ONLY seem to happen to the more conservative politicans?
TRUE mishaps work fall more randomly on both sides.
Somebody's monkeying around with the end product and it ain't the neo-cons.

Reminds me of the "X" story and VP Cheney. The industry seems to be full of these idiots.
I still have my screen shot of CNN/Netscape on 11-03-2004 in which a picture of George W. Bush is titled "a$$hole.jpg" (with the letter "s" in place of the dollar signs). I can't tell you how many of my friends would not believe how blatant the bias is. They had their eyes opened when I showed them the image and it had a lasting effect, because every once in a while they'll remind me of that bias.

Hadn't heard about THAT one. But what can one expect of an industry that is intellectually so incestuous.

Harpers first act should be cutting the funding to that state-run POS communist propaganda mouthpiece CBC.

"An editor chose to capture part of the word their for the graphic" Part of the word "their" as a graphic? Does that make sense?
19 seconds of "Heil" makes perfect sense, considering the source.

There have been several others (and they were posted to FR).
One had a girl with a W in her hair (at innauguration or a campaign speech) and the rollover said "brainwashed". That same day there was another one (possibly in the same article).
The liberal elites are mocking the masses. Giving them the finger under the table and hoping they don't get caught.

Exactly. The "X" buzz. Liberals think they're being brilliant in trying to offend the greatest number of people possible. Conservatives=Nazis. That trope is becoming tiresome.

As I've mentioned in the past, if this kind of stuff was accidental, then such events would be equally-distributed regardless of party affiliation.
