No, the problem is you don't see JACK! You'd prefer to assume we're protesting for the SAKE of protesting. And we'll use any excuse to protest. That we hope Code Pink and other groups will protest just so we would can have an excuse to play in the street.
Now here's the truth according to Buford.
I can think of a thousand things I'd rather be doing on a Friday night. I happen to know a lot of other Freepers who feel the same way. But we do this out of NECESSITY! Nary a one of us wants wounded servicemen and women traveling in and out of Walter Reed to see only America hating leftists protesting against everything they stand for. So we stand across the street and demonstrate our appreciation for their sacrifice.
When we started countering Code Pink, they were using signs that read "Enlist and Die for Haliburton", "Maimed for a Lie", just to name a few. But through OUR efforts they've had to clean up their act. Change their message.
There were weeks when they've had large numbers outside the gate spewing their hate. But again, through our discourse - DISCOURSE, SIR, - I believe we've managed to shame a lot of them into NOT coming back...except for their hardcore center.
Every good conservative has a responsibility to take the opportunities that present themself. You take it in the classroom. I will take it at the Gates of Walter Reed.
did y'all see this from the Corner? Dems using the troops again.

"SECOND, call the "URGE ABSTENTION" Senators identified immediately below and do the same -- say that you hope they vote NO on cloture this afternoon but if they can't, urge them to ABSTAIN from the cloture vote by visiting wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital at 4:30 p.m. Doing so will be just as good as a "no" vote but will give them political cover with their conservative voters back home. Again, call their DC AND District offices. And again, if their staff will commit to a position on cloture and/or abstention, please post a comment here."
Picture this....
Superbowl sunday, a bunch of studenta gather at their teacher's house, not to watch the game or to even cheer their team on to victory, but to hear the teacher expalin how the game should be played, how a offensive lineman should block, and how actually playing the game is too dirty for real conservatives to play, and that the game was played better in the 1960's when the other side won.
Only after the students leave and find out the results do they understand what they really missed.
My hat is off to the DC freepers, not only have they stood their ground, but they've thrown Code Pink for a lost of fifty yards and taken away their ball.
That's smashmouth and in your face politics, asnd what is hurting Code Pink the most is that they believe that only they are allowed to play the game that way.
Code Pink intended to be in the face of our wounded soldiers returning from Iraq, seeding their minds with such depressing thoughts as "you were maimed for a Lie" in an attempt to turn them into a new generation of "Viet Nam Vets Against The War", as John Kerry once did with his lies.
The DC freeps decided that they would prevent that from happening by counter-protesting them, a radical idea for real conservatives.(mega giant rolleyes)
If I am to be called a radical because I feel we cannot let the the tactics the left used to "win" the Viet Nam war ever happen again, then I will proudly wear the name,
and if it means I'll be fighting dirty I'll do so with all the espirit de corps of a US Marine.
I don't have a ping list, and I pinged takoma on the ABC journalists breaking news thread-
it was just announced they will likely be moved to Walter Reed in two days.
The left won't enter the Arena of Ideas because there is no justification for seeding the hearts of our wounded soldiers with the added emotional torment depression and despair.
They hope to win by default when no one stands to prevent from doing so.
Oh my goodness!
Excellently summed up, BufordP!
FReegards, 3D-Joy.
One of the wonderful staff ladies I have spoken with frequently in there has two adult children in the services; I suspect many other staffers also have military ties. They know what it's like to have a son or daughter in harm's way.
You are dealing with another person who thinks they are too good to stand out on a cold and wet evening.
As you do, sweet Flora.
LOL!!
Post 283 says it all. Go, usmcobra! Thanks for getting it, crystal clear!
Great tagline!
Awesome!
Beautiful! You've certainly spoken my thoughts and reasons for being at the gates.
Amen Tonk!
