WASHINGTON -- After bucking Democratic Party leaders by announcing a filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Samuel A. Alito Jr., Senators John F. Kerry and Edward M. Kennedy yesterday scrambled for votes to support their move -- ignoring derisive hoots from Republicans and even a prediction by the Senate's top Democrat that their maneuver was doomed.

Apparently, there aren't any such in Massachusetts

(ie: Democratic Senators up for re-election)

In MA, Senator Kennedy is untouchable as long as he runs....he does the small stuff that people depend on from their government.

Senator Kerry is another matter.

"This is a classic example of why democrats are not likely rise to power in this country for a very, very long time"

Don't under estimate how many legal AND illegal residents would love free health care, unlimited welfare, and no repercussions for not seeking employment. Believe me the RATS are more than willing to offer it.

Can you imagine the outcry there would have been if Jesse Helms had tried a filibuster against Judge Ginsburg in 1993? The lefties who now support a filibuster would have been screaming about far right racists trying to thwart the will of the elected president. What hypocrites they are.

Actually there is a lesson here for Republicans. Democrats understand the need to wage losing battles for PR reasons. This shows the Nutsy Left that they "Care" about their issues.

It also accomplishes two other RAT objectives, both important:

1) It makes the filibuster of the next nominee easier. The first one is an outrage, but the shock diminishes with repetition.

2) Reid is getting chits from RATs voting for cloture, bet on it. Once Nelson, Byrd, Conrad, etc are safely reelected, they will pay the leadership back, probably by voting "no" on cloture next time around.

The RATs are pros at this, the GOP are babies.

It's a shame that Kennedy doesn't give Kerry an auto tour of the Vineyard.

This time, I think they're just delusional and don't realize that the middle-of-the-road votes they need to attract would vote Democrat, if the party had a clue about mainstream ideas.

Why are they doing this? To support the pro-death crowd? Heck, it's not like Feinsten's supporters would vote 'pub anyway.

It's why the 'pubs will keep on winning. Kerry etal choose the wrong battles.

Massachusetts is a state with far too many liberal colleges and universities. The influence of all the voting loonie-left professors and students keeps Kennedy and Kerry in power. The two K boys can act as irresponsible as they please, and they will still be reelected.

I have had an ongoing tat for tat with a DUer that I used to work with (we are both retired). I have learned that there are no limits to what they will say...they still believe the "selected not elected", Bush won last time because he "gerrymandered" the elected (I know ?), etc. I sent a cartoon making fun of liberals and was called a !@#$&*^ Nazi. The more I pressed the facts the more unhinged he has become...some of the exchanges are priceless. Now I just send him stuff to get him going. Wackos are so much fun.

The DUmmies are getting loonier and loonier.

Well after we watched the Tories (conservatives) take control of Canada and Hamas winning Palastine, wrecking the so called 'peace process'. We're seeing liberal dreams crushed one at a time.

Now, if only Fairtax would be passed into law this year.

Kennedy and Kerry have lost their way.

Massachusetts needs to put up more road signs, with larger print.

You use the word "Democratic". They are not democratic, they are socialists. I'm OK with calling them DemoRats, Jackasses, or even Democrats, but not Democratic.
