I suggest Shays go back to CT and leave the GOP alone. He's certainly out of touch with the party.It's a sad state of affairs when someone from the press sounds more conservative than a Republican.
This is certainly nothing new with northeast republicans. I think that the term used to be Rockefeller republicans... Socially liberal, and only moderate, when it comes to fiscal policy. Shays, Snowe, Collins, (formerly) Jeffords, and what's his name... The son of the senator who never met a gun ban bill that he didn't love...
