I wonder who has made sure that Indian tribes can contribute without restrictions???

McCain mostly, but Feingold was aware of it as well. Someone discovered it shortly before the bill was to be voted on and objected, but both McCain and Feingold said it was too late to tinker with the bill, that they didn't want to risk it failing, and that they would fix it later.

Interpreting McCain.

When he called Chavez wacko I thought to myself...he's giving a little gift to Pat Robertson.

Now he's saying that Iran is the most dangerous nation......a little gift to jewish voters.

The man is despicable and not trustworthy.

He talks about lobbying reform but makes no mention of the fact that he took many many private plane rides from the founder of Monster.com to say nothing of his Keating 5 involvement.

Unfortunately it is a reality of life and will factor in any election campaign whichever end of the spectrum it is whether the candidate is thought to be too old or too young.

Question, since you're obviously thinking this through. Would the argument along the line of Democrats only capable of nominating candidates of the caliber of a Carter or Clinton be effective in reminding voters of what happens when a Democrat is elected?

I wouldn't say I'm truly "thinking this through," as much as dredging up things I've picked up from others over the decades. As a 50 year old who happens to be a news junkie and voracious reader I've got a lot to draw on from people way smarter than me (even if I can't track back or link to all of them easily).

As to Carter and Clinton, they would actually be counter examples, in this case. They despise traditional Christians and their values. They played the part to win their votes, but they were sneering at them all along.

What I'm afraid of is someone who does sincerely believe, but takes the populist (socialist) view of someone like Bryant. That person could be truly dangerous. Did you ever see Inherit The Wind? The character of Matthew Harrison Brady, played (magnificently) by Fredric March, is based directly on William Jennings Bryant. Bryant was a true believer and had all of the evangelical Christians backing him. But it wasn't just on his fight against evolution that they backed him. He was also a rock ribbed "progressive" and "populist" and evangelical Christians, by and large, backed him on that, too. Pick him up and drop him into todays world and he would be a friend of Hugo Chavez world view, not George Bush's. Barring his own prejudices against any non-whites he would have far more sympathy with Iran's Mullah's than with Israel's Netanyahu.

We might undercut someone like that with a Clinton/Carter reminder that the recent examples of such people were frauds, but that would only stand up if he really were a fraud. What if he really believed, even though he's got it all wrong? Truly a frightening prospect.

York has been writing love letters to McCain for the past few months.

Wonder what McCain promised him in return.

McCain's problem is not too old as much as too unstable. I swear, the man seems to be off his rocker many of the times I've seen him on TV.

GHB is very popular with Conservatives because we agree with him about 85 percent of the time

Yep which makes the insanity of the "Real Conservatives" who are busy doing everything they can to regurgitate DNC Talking Points about Bush so hard to fathom. IF they REALLY are "Conservatives", what do they think they accomplish when they do everything they can to elect a Leftist Democrat run Government that will give them 100% of what they CLAIM to loath?

The guy is just so far out on the left that he really believes that conservatives are "trained" but progressives are enlightened (he hates the term liberal).

I'd love to hear his answer to this: "Why do you feel [lib word] that "liberal" has become an unacceptable word? Or why do you not want to be identified as a liberal? All the conservatives that I know are upfront about their identification with the word "conservative."

Thanks. I guess I was hoping people on this board might send it around if they think it is a legitimate analogy.

Oh it is. Seems the Modern Left has an unnatural fixation on that particular bodily orifice. They talk out of it, their head is always up it, most of them are completely made out of it, they make movies like Broken(in) Back Mountin' about it even the symbol for their party is synonomus with it.

I am afraid that Slick Willie being asked by the Hasbeen media for a comment on anything under the Sun set a pattern for them in place. Then the Pathetic fool going off acting like he could do something about every little problem led others to assume that GWB would do the same. Why would you ask the President about a Pro Gay Hollywood Fantasy Movie if you did not think because of Slick Willie that the President would egoistically answer their questions seriously? Fictitious Question from Reporter David Gregory. "Excuse me Mr President, but I have a serious case of Hemorrhoids, what are your thoughts on this matter?" AGGHHHHHHHHHH! This is a little far fetched, but not too much.

Not too coherent, was it? [Juan Williams]

It certainly was not. He must not have understood his talking point, or missed getting the DNC fax today.

HAGEL...just bashed Rove for characterizing the dems as being in a pre-9/11 mindset...and the Reps as being in a post 9/11 mindset...

Hagel was upset about that...puh-lllllllleeeeze

But Hagel is actually correct. Rove was wrong to break it down as Dem = pre 9/11 and Rep = post 9/11. Just look at Hagel and other RINOs. And remember, there's at least one post 9/11 Democrat in Lieberman.

Now, if you talk about the leadership of the parties, or the majority of the parties, or the policies of the parties (excepting border control), then Rove is right.

I mean, be fair to the twit. Broken clock and twice daily correctness apply, even to him. Even if that's not what he meant. I guess it's not so much the broken clock analogy as the "blind sow finding an acorn" kinda thing.

That is what I thought that it was GWB they were talking about. Mccain is not popular with Conservatives as we know because he is a bi-polar, backstabbing, self absorbed, egoistical spoiled brat that never measured up to his Grandfather or Father. Mccain still votes mostly with Conservatives and Pubbies, but he is so all over the map and off his meds we really cannot assume he will always vote with us.
