I liken this to the smoking debate. Has it ever been proven that secondhand music causes any harm, or is just an annoyance that some killjoys want to use as an excuse to persecute lovers of loud music?

When loud stereo's are outlawed, only outlaw's will have loud stereo's.

Oh, BTW, a "Yute" is referring to Joe Peschi (sp?) in "My Cousin Vinny". Youth's became Yute's, get it?

Slay was out of town and unavailable for comment.

This is code for: "The mayor is hunkered down in his office and not taking calls or appointments because he knows the road-apples are going to hit the fan in about 5 minutes."

The fella who invents the remote unidirectional AM static speaker flooding device will make a million bucks in about five minutes.

Hear booming.
Turn on device.
Aim for booming vehicle.
Pull trigger.
Speakers blare AM static and blow out.

No more booming.

Its called penis envy.

Which tells me that the Harley is meant primarily as a surrogate for the penis. Big bike, little wee-wee.

"Harley riders make noise for another reason....Loud Pipes Saves Lives. "

Yes, yes. So does defensive riding, the method I've always used. The real slogan is "Loud Pipes Make Noise." Or "Loud Pipes Annoy Idiots."

Every Harley is delivered from the factory with mufflers that quiet them to tolerable levels.

Loving loud music does not give you free license to be a public nuisance. These bass thumpers can take a drive out to the country where nobody is around and blow their brains out on rap/hip-hop at 120 dB for all I care. I shouldn't have to hear it when I'm sitting in my house eating lunch.

There's gotta be a link to an MP3 or .wav of this sound clip on the net. It is funny.

I have never understood how a vibrating trunk lid is considered music.

I often wondered about that myself. I even asked a neighbor if it sounded any better inside than outside. He invited me to set inside (a new Explorer) and check it out. I put one of my Pavarotti CDs in, kicked up the volume and sat back. It sounded better than on the big component stereo in my living room.

***What is a yute?***

From the movie, My Cousin Vinny (starring Joe Pesci). Funny as heck.

Brought 'yute' into the vernacular.

What about a ticket and a fine?

Only if the judges would enforce the fines. We have an ordinance here in Chesterfield County, VA that states you get a ticket and a fine if an officer can hear your stereo from your closed up vehicle 50 yds away. Unfortuneately the courts throw them all out on a technicality.

The ticketing officer must prove that they were at least 50 yds away, and at that distance, unless it is the only car on the road, the burden of proof that the right vehicle was ticketed is on the officer. I don't think that anyone here has had to pay the fine.

What is really needed is a way to effectively neutralize the noise from these things.

"Jeez, now we are going to see the Conservative blind-spot again."

There are alot of people on FR who think they are conservative but they are really just big-gov't types like the libs. They scream about Hillary's abuses of power but they LOVE gov't regulations and laws when it suits their purposes. And the stiffer the penalties, the better, as far as they are concerned.

How about making them display a large non removable sign on their car that says "Total Idiot"?

Yep.
I also noticed that when I switched from custom to stock dressers people could suddenly see me. A flashy chopper with bright paint and chrome was seemingly invisible – but a stock black dresser (I wore a white half shell helmet) that strongly resembled a cop bike was readily seen.

Given that those loud speaker systems are designed to be an assault on the peace, I don't think there's a conservative argument against reasonable measures to stop them.
