While I do understand your concern, if you had done any research at all you would find most of the projects this group undertakes focusing on finding ways to apply modern engineering knowledge using locally available materials and skills to improve the conditions in these backward countries. This means, in a sense, teaching the hungry man to fish rather than giving him a fish dinner.

Although they do seek government and NGO funding opportunities, the engineering effort is generally donated to the cause. While I am not a part of the organization, I do respect what they do. It would be quite fulfilling to truly improve people's lives through my profession, rather than provide society with another disposable trinket.

I don't argue that they may actually do some good work, but reading their promotional material and presentation material reads like typical George Soros/UN/global whining propaganda.

No they are not the worst offenders, but they do bear watching as they try to reach into our pockets to redistribute wealth internationally - with some sticky fingers along the way, I'm sure.
