WASHINGTON - Heading into Tuesday's State of the Union address and the beginning of the 2006 political season, President Bush faces an electorate that continues to be dissatisfied with his job performance, increasingly wants U.S. soldiers to come home from Iraq, and believes the Republican Party is associated more with special interests and lobbyists, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll...

The cost of gas is high. Want good ratings on the economy? Get the cost down.

"The cost of gas is high. Want good ratings on the economy? Get the cost down."

Or just read Rasmussen's poll (Prez at 51% approval, 2500 adults over 3 days). I'll take Scott's word over the LSM any day!

These polls are meaningless. The reality is once the internals are broken down they are weighted DEM heavy (always).

Furthermore this is all the MSM/DEM's have left.....They win polls....while GWB/GOP win real elections.

Sure, gas prices are hurting the POTUS numbers slightly (but that is just the nature of the beast when a pollster calls someone and spins things negative...and then gives the person being polled an outlet to express and concerns).

These polls are manipulated to death. The the extent in which these polls are tweaked would shock the general public. The reality is they are worthless for having any actual merit or substance...(what they are for is to try and influence the publics mood).

The key is looking at the numbers regarding Iraq (and the GWOT)....this is the MSM baby....they have to keep insisting the "American public is against the war"...."that is is an increasing unpopular war"......So they tweak their polls to ridiculous margins to get these results.

The real reality is every time since Sept 11th, 2001....when the American public have actually had a real poll....they have FOLLOWED GWB leadership!

And asking a silly question like "Do you want American soldiers home" (and basically the entire would in peace)....Of course you are going to get a large % to agree to that.

It is like asking do you want most people to be healthy and happy?

The MSM make these polls for themselves anymore. It is the last grasp they have to keep their sanity.

They never seem to ask for the job approval for Congress, only President Bush. My guess is that it would be lower than his. Too much to ask from them, ya' know, a little context.

The MSM chooses to dishonestly disregard the positive numbers that show a good economy. The MSM that is at fault -- not the Bush administration.

The numbers are out there that show a good economy but my argument is that the administration doesn't go out on the offense on promoting them. Everything from unemployment to job growth numbers have been good.

Do you know the party breakdown of the sample? I couldn't find anything at NBC website. They must be hiding it for a reason.

I'm afraid that isn't going to happen in the near term; probably just the opposite.

And .. how willing the old media is to lie about his JA numbers.

Rasmussen has Bush at 50% - ABC at 39%

That disparity in numbers has nothing to do with the repubs not getting their message out. The left is continuing to over-sample dems by 7%.

Yep, four of five cards are face up on the table and the MSM reports a 2-of clubs, 4-of-spades, 5-of-hearts and a 7-of-diamonds. When actually the four up cards are three 8s with an Ace. Guess what the hole card is? You got it -- it's a second Ace!

He (President Bush) can play it whenever he deems it most advantageous to win the hand.

And what is the Administration doing to prepare the US population for the rise in gas prices?

There should be a campaign like we had in WWII to mobilize the country to conserve.

also people tend to be rather self centered when it comes to the economy. They don't care if there are no breadlines and help wanted signs every where, what they care about is it costs them an extra $100 a month to get to work and take the kids to t-ball. It might as well be a depression to most people if they have to pay a nickel more for something (yet strangely they are to eager to hand over more and more tax dollars?)

Interesting how they give specific percentages for the points that make the Pres. look bad. I wonder what a "small" majority in Bushs' favor is in regard to NSA wiretapping? Maybe 60-40%

They say people want more jobs, we already have more jobs than legal residents.

Wow, these results are identical with all the Democrats talking points. How do you suppose that happened?
