WELCOME
to the first, RNC officially sanctioned, CYBER GOP House Party for the President's STATE of the UNION speech!

There are 1375 Parties nationwide, and WE are the biggest and the best! Tonight, President Bush, in his STATE of the UNION speech, will discuss America's leadership in the world and share his vision to lead America forward. To seize opportunities here at home, the President will outline the policies needed for the American people to continue to compete in the global economy.

Earlier today, the President sat with Supreme Court nominee, Samuel Alito in the Roosevelt Room at the White House, and watched the Senate confirmation vote as they approved his nomination 58-42, fulfilling one of President Bush's most significant campaign pledges by placing on the Supreme Court another justice who will interpret the Constitution as the Founders intended, and not legislate from the bench. THANK you, President Bush! (Justice Alito was sworn in at 12:07 this afternoon as the 110th Supreme Court Justice)

President Bush also released a statement regarding the death of widow of Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King, Jr, Coretta Scott King and met with TV reporters in the White House to give them a glimpse of his State of the Union, emphasizing his optimism for the future of America. He also continued to work on this speech for tonight.

The economy is strong, we are winning our War on Terror and it is a GOOD DAY in America, and a GREAT time to be a Bush-bot!

Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose............ let's PARTY!!!!!!!!!

Here are your party favors! Please share..........

A great caller to Cspan just finished saying the Democrats have NO IDEAS on how to help this nation - all they do is criticize the President. The caller said it several times and was not (surprisingly) cut off by the Cspan hostess.

Brian Wilson just said that what used to be called "Spin Alley" should just be known as a Giant American Meat Market!

Hi, Meg!

I signed a bunch of Valentines for the troops with "Meg", and some other names in the boxes I just mailed out.

Ah yes, the "possum smirk" of Bill Kristol!!

I keep forgetting who came up with that original description but it sure fits. Grandpa Dave? Not sure. Someone will correct me.

But clearly, WE heard the speech.

Others seemed to hear what they thought he should have said and didn't or what they wanted to hear.

Talk about not being in the moment?? HAR!

And don't you love that Mother Sheehan got herself thrown out before anyone even got there? I love it. She had something on her lap and as soon as the Capitol Police saw it, they escorted her out. I've heard that she was escorted out, detained but not yet arrested!!!

Tonight's speech made is very clear that President Bush is far above the petty politics on Capital Hill. He literally begged them to work together and work for a common cause that focuses on what's best for America instead of what's best for either political party.

I give this speech a 95 on a scale from 0 - 100, and as far as I'm concerned, I consider this SOTU Speech his best so far

You are right DrDeb.

I think it was about 20 years ago, when the news media first used the word "Spin" for the after speech....speeches. My late father was horrified that the word "spin" had even been invented by the media! LOL

Well, I think this was a great speech. My reasons:

1. The President called out the critics and refuted their comments on the war.

2. He detailed the successes in the war, and he talked about the challenges.

3. He talked about energy independence, and what we need to do to achieve it.

4. I am really glad to hear him talk about science education. My degree is in geology (which was what I did as a profession for a number of years) and I really think this effort he is proposing is long overdue.

5. Great, inspiring finish to the speech.

I am sure there were lots more points (taxes, Patriot Act renewal, use of NSA) but these were the ones that stuck out in my mind.

Wolfstar will hate me for saying this, but Kaine bears a slight--SLIGHT--resemblance to Jeff Gordon

Oh, nooooooo...not another comparison to Jeff. :-0

Last week you had me going with that SNL photo.

I just got home and didn't get to watch the President's speech, and I won't watch the Dim reply. So this time I'll just pretend there is no gov. of Virginia who might resemble the world's greatest racecar driver. ;-)

FoxNews has been a GREAT disappointment for several years now! Who needs the networks/cable channels anyway, we get the best analysis we could want right here at FR!!

I think so, too.

Goodnight, everyone - and thanks for this very special Dose, oWf!

I'm so rarely up and around when the Dose goes up these days. It's all the fresh air and sunshine in my new state. Puts me to bed early.

The truth? I don't have any curtains or drapes in my bedroom and the sun comes up and shines right in my peepers. So, if I don't go to bed early, I get awakened waaaaay too early!!!

I'll work on sewing some curtains and rapes when I've finished filing all the insurance claims for the move. I had the lousiest moving co. If you ever hear of anyone planning a move, and they say they are going to use "Interstate", send them to me so I can discourage them?

He really has that "inside the beltway" thing down. I don't care for it at all.

Ssssh. Don't tell anyone, but I would much rather hang out with Juan Williams. At least he is real.
