ANY of these winning would be seen as a victory for liberal politics in Hollywood. So they can't lose.
A very bad year in movies. I've seen fewer this year than in any other since I started going over 30 years ago.
I love movies too, and I think the only one I've seen this year is Pride and Prejudice.
"Ick Factor" movies = not worth the price of admission
Having actually seen the movie (sheepish look), I think it will win Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography and possibly Best Supporting Actress (Michelle Williams). The reason is simple: this movie is almost the LEAST politically provocative of the movies nominated, of all things! Good Night, and Good Luck and Munich may be a just a bit too political for AMPAS voters to name Best Picture.
By the way, Philip Seymour Hoffman will win Best Actor hands down given his wins so far for his awesome role in Capote.
Media whore and alleged movie critic Roger Ebert disagrees...he and his partner were both gushing on their year-end review show the other day that 2005 was a wonderful year for film...just fabulous.
yes--and the one excellent movie out of the bunch, Cinderella Man, was not even nominated...
