What Really Happened at the State of the Union

by Cindy Sheehan
February 1 , 2006

Dear Friends,

As most of you have probably heard, I was arrested before the State of the Union Address tonight.

I am speechless with fury at what happened and with grief over what we have lost in our country.

There have been lies from the police and distortions by the press. (Shocker) So this is what really happened:

This afternoon at the People's State of the Union Address in DC where I was joined by Congresspersons Lynn Woolsey and John Conyers, Ann Wright, Malik Rahim and John Cavanagh, Lynn brought me a ticket to the State of the Union Address. At that time, I was wearing the shirt that said: 2245 Dead. How many more?

After the PSOTU press conference, I was having second thoughts about going to the SOTU at the Capitol. I didn't feel comfortable going. I knew George Bush would say things that would hurt me and anger me and I knew that I couldn't disrupt the address because Lynn had given me the ticket and I didn't want to be disruptive out of respect for her. I, in fact, had given the ticket to John Bruhns who is in Iraq Veterans Against the War. However, Lynn's office had already called the media and everyone knew I was going to be there so I sucked it up and went.

I got the ticket back from John, and I met one of Congresswoman Barbara Lee's staffers in the Longworth Congressional Office building and we went to the Capitol via the undergroud tunnel. I went through security once, then had to use the rest room and went through security again.

My ticket was in the 5th gallery, front row, fourth seat in. The person who in a few minutes was to arrest me, helped me to my seat.

I had just sat down and I was warm from climbing 3 flights of stairs back up from the bathroom so I unzipped my jacket. I turned to the right to take my left arm out, when the same officer saw my shirt and yelled; "Protester." He then ran over to me, hauled me out of my seat and roughly (with my hands behind my back) shoved me up the stairs. I said something like "I'm going, do you have to be so rough?" By the way, his name is Mike Weight.

The officer ran with me to the elevators yelling at everyone to move out of the way. When we got to the elevators, he cuffed me and took me outside to await a squad car. On the way out, someone behind me said, "That's Cindy Sheehan." At which point the officer who arrested me said: "Take these steps slowly." I said, "You didn't care about being careful when you were dragging me up the other steps." He said, "That's because you were protesting." Wow, I get hauled out of the People's House because I was, "Protesting."

I was never told that I couldn't wear that shirt into the Congress. I was never asked to take it off or zip my jacket back up. If I had been asked to do any of those things...I would have, and written about the suppression of my freedom of speech later. I was immediately, and roughly (I have the bruises and muscle spasms to prove it) hauled off and arrested for "unlawful conduct."

After I had my personal items inventoried and my fingers printed, a nice Sgt. came in and looked at my shirt and said, "2245, huh? I just got back from there."

I told him that my son died there. That's when the enormity of my loss hit me. I have lost my son. I have lost my First Amendment rights. I have lost the country that I love. Where did America go? I started crying in pain.

What did Casey die for? What did the 2244 other brave young Americans die for? What are tens of thousands of them over there in harm's way for still? For this? I can't even wear a shirt that has the number of troops on it that George Bush and his arrogant and ignorant policies are responsible for killing.

I wore the shirt to make a statement. The press knew I was going to be there and I thought every once in awhile they would show me and I would have the shirt on. I did not wear it to be disruptive, or I would have unzipped my jacket during George's speech. If I had any idea what happens to people who wear shirts that make the neocons uncomfortable that I would be arrested...maybe I would have, but I didn't.

There have already been many wild stories out there.

I have some lawyers looking into filing a First Amendment lawsuit against the government for what happened tonight. I will file it. It is time to take our freedoms and our country back.

I don't want to live in a country that prohibits any person, whether he/she has paid the ulitmate price for that country, from wearing, saying, writing, or telephoning any negative statements about the government. That's why I am going to take my freedoms and liberties back. That's why I am not going to let Bushco take anything else away from me...or you.

I am so appreciative of the couple of hundred of protesters who came to the jail while I was locked up to show their support....we have so much potential for good...there is so much good in so many people.

Four hours and 2 jails after I was arrested, I was let out. Again, I am so upset and sore it is hard to think straight.

Keep up the struggle...I promise you I will too.

Love and peace soon,

Cindy

The "people's" this the "people's" that. It sure is clear she has been totally co-opted by the Communist fringe.

And I really wish one of her handlers would explain to her the phrase, "paid the ultimate price." It doesn't apply to the relatives of dead heroes. Just the heroes themselves.

At most Cindy's paid the penultimate price. And that sacrifice never stopped her from claiming that other Gold Star mothers are "for murder and mayhem":

I have been silent on the Gold Star Moms who still support this man and his war by saying that they deserve the right to their opinions because they are in as much pain as I am. I would challenge them, though, at this point to start thinking for themselves...

How can these moms who still support George Bush and his insane war in Iraq want more innocent blood shed just because their sons or daughters have been killed?

I don’t understand it. I don’t understand how any mother could want another mother to feel the pain we feel. I am starting to lose a little compassion for them. I know they have been as brainwashed as the rest of America, but they know the pain and heartache and they should not wish it on another. However, I still feel their pain so acutely and pray for these "continue the murder and mayhem" moms to see the light.

Mother Sheehan is only too happy to smear anyone who disagrees with her. Even those who have paid the "ultimate price" according to her Valley Girl dictionary.

And speaking of smears, I hope Officer Michael Weight sues Mother Sheehan for defamation.

Words cannot express how f*****g much I hate this f*****g c**t.

She hated her son and she is delighted that he's dead. She can't sing, she can't act, she can't dance, she can't tell jokes and she's frighteningly ugly, but her son's death has finally made her famous and she's going to milk it for every last drop of attention.

Hey, did you know that almost every sentence that Sheehan writes can be ended with "...because I'm a weenie."?

As most of you have probably heard, I was arrested before the State of the Union Address tonight, because I'm a weenie.

I am speechless with fury at what happened and with grief over what we have lost in our country, because I'm a weenie.

I have some lawyers looking into filing a First Amendment lawsuit against the government for what happened tonight, because I'm a weenie.

It's like the fortune cookie game, but more entertaining.

This woman is unstable and shouldn't be allowed in the same city as the president.

Is there any way the next time they arrest her, and they will, that they can treat her for the mental illness she is so obviously displaying? I think if they shot her up with some good anti psych drugs she might feel better and move on with her life. I bet her son would want her to do that.

If she was beaten on the soles of her feet with freshly cut bamboo, she would have a complaint. If her dead son could be channeled, I suspect he would say: Ma, cut it out, you're embarrassing me.

The claim that the cops roughed her up is nothing compared to her impending Arkancide.

Hadn't considered that, but you're right--she's a prime candidate for Arkancide.

She exhibits many of the same symptoms as stalkers:

Types of Stalkers

[W]e have broken down types of stalkers into three broad categories: Intimate partner stalkers, delusional stalkers and vengeful stalkers. Obviously, there is overlap.

Intimate partner stalkers are typically known as the guy who “just can’t let go.” These are most often men who refuse to believe that a relationship has really ended…

In these types of stalking cases, the victim may, in fact, unwittingly encourage the stalker by trying to “let him down easy,” or agreeing to talk to him “just one more time.” What victims need to understand is that there is no reasoning with stalkers. Just the fact that stalking - an unreasonable activity - has already begun, illustrates this fact…

Delusional stalkers frequently have had little, if any, contact with their victims…

Another type of delusional stalker might believe that he is destined to be with someone, and that if he only pursues her hard enough and long enough…

The final category of stalker is not lovelorn. He is the vengeful stalker. These stalkers become angry with their victims over some slight, real or imagined. Politicians, for example, get many of these types of stalkers…

Some of these angry stalkers are psychopaths, i.e. people without conscience or remorse. Some are delusional, (most often paranoid), and believe that they, in fact, are the victims. They all stalk to “get even.”

Anti-Stalking.com

Common Traits of Stalkers

Stalkers will not take no for an answer.

They refuse to believe that a victim is not interested in them or will not rekindle their relationship…

Stalkers display an obsessive personality.

They are not just interested in, but totally obsessed with the person they are pursuing. Their every waking thought centers on the victim, and every plan the stalker has for the future involves the victim…

Stalkers are above average in intelligence and are usually smarter than the run of the mill person with mental problems.

They have been known… even to travel thousands of miles and spend thousands of dollars to gain information about or find their victims…

Most stalkers don’t have any relationship outside the one they are trying to re-establish or the one they have imagined exists between them and their victim.

Because they are usually loners, stalkers become desperate to obtain this relationship…

Stalkers don’t display the discomfort or anxiety that people should naturally feel in certain situations.

Normal individuals would be extremely embarrassed to be caught following other people… leaving obscene notes, and other inappropriate behavior displayed by stalkers…

Stalkers often suffer from low self-esteem, and feel they must have a relationship with the victim in order to have any self worth.

Preoccupations with other people almost always involve someone with weak social skills and low self-esteem…

Few stalkers can see how their actions are hurting others.

They display other sociopathic thinking in that they cannot learn from experience, and they don’t believe society’s rules apply to them.

Most stalkers don’t think they’re really threatening, intimidating, or even stalking someone else…

Stalkers many times have a mean streak and will become violent when frustrated.  How violent?  Often deadly.

this shrew is NOT a genuine Gold Star Mother.

" We stand tall and proud by honoring our children, assisting our veterans, supporting our nation, and healing with each other."

Who Is a Gold Star Mother?

"This Gold Star was substituted and superimposed upon the blue Star in such a manner as to entirely cover it. The idea of the Gold Star was that the honor and glory accorded the person for his supreme sacrifice in offering for his country, the last full measure of devotion and pride of the family in this sacrifice, rather than the sense of personal loss which would be represented by the mourning symbols.

On June 4, 1928, a group of twenty-five mothers residing in Washington, DC, met to make plans to organize a national organization to be known as American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., a nondenominational, non-profitable and nonpolitical organization. On January 5, 1929, the organization was incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia."

I'll answer.

You posted from a Blog so it goes under Bloggers & Personal.

There are SEVERAL threads already on the very same topic with the same letter you posted, and the source are acutal news sites, not Blogs or vanities.

Heck I am surprised they didn't delete this post; it's about the 10th time today its been put up here. Kind of overkill, you know?

Security should have just told her to keep her jacket on and zipped up. No one would ever have known she was even there, as it is she's all over the news.

She's so upset w/Katrina. "She" took all her attention away - although Sheehan is scraping a bit of it back, now.

Sheehan next to Conyers? It was probably the smell that got her tossed, the tee shirt was just an excuse.

I didn't ask you.

Many articles from "blogs" go into the news and activism site, in case you haven't noticed.

There have been NO OTHER threads with the Buzzflash material. And none with Cindy's quotes about other Gold Star moms.

There has been ONE thread wherein NewsMax has done it's usual mashup of the story without citing where they got their info from.

But thanks for your uninformed and misleading insights.
