How is thwarting a common enemy- whenever and however we can- irrational?
The survival of the United States DOES, I believe, depend on the defeat of Islam and the militant countries who threaten the world because of it.
This country wouldn't cease to exist if Israel does.
But it will if Iran- and every other Islamic country- that wants to see our downfall is allowed to proceed unchecked across the globe.
We defend Israel- and all non-Muslim cultures Islam would attack- because Islam is our enemy. The enemy must be denied what it wants. We don't have to 'need' the countries militant Islam threatens. We must defend them to deny our common enemy a victory.
Do you really think Iran wouldn't/wont target 'Zionist loving' countries? Do you not see a threat in the spread of Islam?
Israel, little piece of this country, little bit of that one. Sounds like how some wanted to appease Hitler.
Destroying Israel won't satisfy Iran.
And it's 'our' problem that they would destroy it for religious reasons because that SAME reason is what caused 9-11. What wants Israels destruction wants ours as well.
I consider that a BIG problem. Why don't you?

OK, fine. If Islam is the real enemy here, would you suggest that a U.S. President who publicly utters a phrase such as "Islam is a religion of peace" in the aftermath of an Islamic terrorist attack on the U.S. should be thrown out of office immediately for rank incompetence, basic stupidity, or a combination of both?
