Iran row hits Belgian spy chief

The head of Belgium's state security service has resigned amid allegations that his department failed to disclose nuclear technology transfers to Iran.

Koen Dassen stepped down after it emerged that warnings from the CIA about such transfers had gone unheeded.

A Belgian firm, Epsi, allegedly sold Iran an isostatic press, which can strengthen nuclear weapons components.

An international embargo bans nuclear technology transfers to Iran, which denies plans to build an atomic bomb.

A Belgian official report said the security service had "assuredly failed in its mission to provide information to the authorities and proved itself inefficient", the French news agency AFP reported.

It also said the service "had not told the entire truth in the affair".

Epsi insisted that the type of technology it exported to Iran in November 2004 could not be used in nuclear weapons production.

Surprise, surprise, is this really news. We all know europe has been covertly supplying hostile mideast countries with weapons and technology for years just to gain access to markets. And now they expect the US to come to the rescue. Truly Sickening......

I'm not convinced vast numbers of individuals in positions of authority need to resign for their willful blindness regarding the Iran crisis. Opening their eyes seems easier than resigning.

What else can we expect from liberal/Democrats/Socialists. Just look at what Clinton did for the Chinese.

These people have learned absolutely nothing from history.

OK, Bloodsport was OK. Even Kick Boxer was OK. That's 2 out of 47 or so.

If you don't think American business men wont if given the chance then you are truly mistaken, in fact I would not be surprised if American business men are involved in quite a few shady deals as well.
