This is hillarious. That standard of conduct gets applied to criminal defendants, the lowest common denominator of human beings. To apply that standard to public policymakers in the context of appropriations is not only an insult to anyone whose job it is to appropriate billions, but also a shortchanging of those who elect and trust those officials.
Why doesn't Bono take his message directly to the American people? I read recently that American charities and individuals donate more money internationally than the government does. In fact, I'm pretty sure the figure was 4 to 6 times as much.
