Unfortuately, that's no rumor, and there's no buyer, either. That involves, in large part, the expiration of FN's license on the Winchester name.

Exactly, but the patents on the guns themselves have long since expired. Those that are worth keeping in production will be called "Browning", since FN owns Browning as well. Kind of sad that, because John Moses Brownings designs more or less made FN, that an licensed production of Mauser designs. Sort of like when Bridgestone bought out Firestone.

Again, more "rumors", but I've heard that FN will still make the former Winchester rifles, either themselves in Belgium, or via licensed manufacturers in Japan.
