Fifth round of Polish troops ends mission in Iraq
03.02.2006
The fifth round of the Polish military contingent in Iraq is ending its mission. As of Saturday, soldiers of the sixth shift are officially assuming duty in the south-central stabilization zone.
During the past six months their predecessors carried out over 230 civilian aid projects worth 15 million dollars, being part of the Polish CIMIC group.
The troops were busy building roads, bringing water to towns and villages and setting up electric power lines. Another field of the Poles activity has been the reconstruction of Iraqi schools and orphanages, also equipping and furnishing them.
The Polish CIMIC group comes third, after the Americans and British, in the number of completed reconstruction projects for Iraqs civilian population.
God Bless our Polish allies.
