A woman accused of using racial epithets while waiting for food at a Connecticut Taco Bell drive-through window was arrested Wednesday.
Jennifer Farrelly, 19, of East Windsor, has been charged with ridicule on account of race, creed or color and second-degree breach of peace. Farrelly's boyfriend, Eric Satterlee, 22, of Ashford, was charged with breach of peace in the incident.
On Dec. 18, Farrelly and Satterlee became frustrated by the slow service at the Taco Bell restaurant on Brookside Place, according to an arrest warrant. Farrelly banged on the drive-through window and called the Taco Bell attendant, Jamelle Byrd, a racial epithet, according to the warrant. Satterlee allegedly cursed and banged on the window.
Farrelly denied using racial epithets when she was interviewed by police, saying Byrd caused the dispute by ridiculing her for parking her car far away from the drive-through window, the warrant states. Byrd's supervisor told police that Byrd should not have been working the drive-through because he had gotten into a similar incident with another customer, the warrant states.

No matter what the truth is here, I can say that, after working in restaurants for many years, it's never wise to trash out the people who are preparing your food, regardless of the circumstances.

Byrd could have pulled a knife and sliced up Jennifer's face, BUT if she responded with the "N" word, she'd be off to prison. The Mayor would then apologize to Byrd - after the parade held in his honor to help restore his self esteem.

Not really similar. 7-11 is a private business operating on private property. Under an honest reading of the Constitution, they are perfectly free to throw people out for saying "thank you", if they want to.
On the other hand, this Taco Bell staffer sounds like she's figured out a surefire way to get rich. Provoke customers into sending racial epithets her way, and either get rich by suing them, or get rich by suing Taco Bell for firing her.

The lawyers are circling the wagons, she'll sue taco Bell and win, he'll sur taco bell, and win, even the cops will probably sue Taco Bell and win. Why you might ask.

Nothing (for me) beats the story of a friend, working at a steak restaurant in a beach resort, who brought a steak not cooked well enough back to the Asian chef/manager, who proceeded to remove his manhood from his trousers, slap the steak with it a few times, and threatened to fire the waiter if he did not return the steak as it was to the patron.
I've learned to appreciate slightly less than medium rare (my preference) steak.
