A Northwestern University professor known for denying the Holocaust happened has publicly sided with Iran's hard-line president, who has been on a campaign against Israel.
Engineering professor Arthur Butz said Friday that he agrees with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's remarks calling the Holocaust a "myth." Butz said his comments supporting the president recently were published by the English-language Tehran Times and Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency.
Butz, a tenured professor whose views have been known in the United States for years, is being promoted by Iranian news sources as one of the world scholars who support Ahmadinejad's views on the Holocaust.
"I congratulate him on becoming the first head of state to speak out clearly on these issues and regret only that it was not a Western head of state," Butz said in a Mehr news report. He posted the same comments on his Northwestern-provided Web site.
Jewish leaders expressed fear that support from a United States educator could add credibility to Ahmadinejad's comments about Israel and the Holocaust.

Kiss my Butz.
Another tenured idiot.
Hard to believe he's at Northwestern.
Art Butz? Sounds like some homo thing, and most homos are liberals and liberals are anti-semetic.
Most clear-thinking Americans, including many college students, take what Ivory Tower professors say with a grain of salt - or send it straight to the crapper.
We are hearing from the hallowed halls of academia again, when will people admit the problem?
Find out where this creep lives, then act upon it.
Does Northwestern also give tenure to professsors who say the world is flat?
Where does the professor believe that 6 million European Jews who were alive in 1939 and dead by 1945 go? Did spaceships pick them up?
Here's the next Ward Churchill. And if David Horrowitz is right in his new book (The Professors), there are a lot more of them to be found.
Sappers within the gates.
When you think about it in context of the war we are fighting, it is a very dangerous scenarion IMHO.
Sounds like this professor might have a basement swastika or two...or three.
The trouble with "It takes a village"....is that it's the village idiots who are filling the ranks of the teaching profession!
An engineering professor? Well within his area of expertise. He's another Chomsky.
Putz is more like it
Who says the only war we are fighting is against Islamists? Just as Japan and Germany allied against us, so has Islamists and the radical left - united by their hatred of core American values. And we have to fight both, albeit by different methods.
The Islamists we kill or capture. The radical lefties we can marginalize by using their own words against them.
I have never had a Holocaust denier explain that. They immediatly jump to XXXXX method couldn't have been used because YYYYYY. Even if a specific method of killing wasn't used, that doesn't explain why so many European Jews died in WWII. Usually when pressed on that point the denier starts cursing either me, Jews or both.
The ivory tower continues to seek bottom-feeder status.
You hope your children grow up and go to college, but then A&%^$#@ like Butz makes you want to reconsider.
