GASSVILLE, Ark. - A teenager suspected of a hatchet-and-gun attack in a Massachusetts gay bar shot and killed a small-town police officer and the teen's female passenger before he was critically wounded in a gun battle with police Saturday, authorities said.
Jacob D. Robida, 18, was shot twice in the head and "it doesn't look good right now," said Massachusetts prosecutor Paul Walsh Jr.
Walsh said the teen shot Officer Jim Sell, 56, twice during a traffic stop in this northern Arkansas town.
About 25 miles away, Robida sped over spike strips set out by state troopers, but continued to drive with two punctured tires into downtown Norfork. Robida's car then careened into several parked vehicles to avoid a police barricade.
"When he wrecked he started firing at our officer and a state police officer and the officers returned fire," said Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery.
Walsh said the teen shot his unidentified female passenger before he was wounded in the shootout with police.
Robida was taken to a Springfield, Mo., hospital, according to state police spokesman Bill Sadler.
Investigators had searched for Robida since Thursday's attack at a bar in New Bedford, Mass., that left three men wounded, one critically.
The hatchet used in the attack was found outside the bar, but detectives believed Robida still had the gun.
Robida was a high school dropout who friends say glorified Naziism but never expressed any specific prejudice against gays.
"This is insane," said Heather Volton, 22, of Fall River, Mass., who had known Robida for more than a year. "That kid never so much as raised his voice at me ... This is all pretty much a shock to me, like everyone else."

Report of this just aired on Ch 25 Boston. Robida was shot twice in the head and is in critical condition--may not survive. Woman he shot was a friend or acquaintance.
He was driving the car he was said to have fled in; had
changed plates.
Fox News has barely been reporting this...but, the description has run on their ticker..
I don't understand why this hasn't gotten more coverage...this idiot took out a policeman in the process of running from this crime, FGS.
Pull the plug on this idiot and toss his corpse into Boston Harbor.

I doubt this guy had no views on Jesus. These cases seem to have something to do with religion (or anti religion) but they seem to never be investigated in depth. The media finds it's angle, guns or in this case anti-gay but is that what really stirs these guys insane passions?
And murdered a teenage girl --neither of which made the headline in the story.
I'm a FNC watcher but I'm getting upset with them on the weekends. They have fixed shows and don't give stories like this much coverage. During the week they'd have had wall to wall coverage on it.
Here's hoping Mr.Robida doesn't make it down for breakfast tomorrow morning.

They said on Fox that the girl was picked up by him in Virginia..on the way to Arkansas...and that the policeman in Arkansas was aware of him, stopped him for a "routine" traffic stop...and the guy shot him twice in the head...
question: If the cop knew who he was...why would he stop the guy by himself...and just walk up to the car?
Also, they said that the guy and girl spent the night in a motel in Arkansas last night. But, they did not give the name of the girl...
Of course, we might know more...but the reporters were cut off by the Fox news chick, so she could get to the story of the woman and child killed last week in the Northeast...sigh

Liberals play "six degrees of socialized health care." These days I tend to play "six degrees of abolishing gun control laws." When will liberals understand that guns do not exist to protect the strong (they have politicians, lawyers and police on their side), but that guns protect the weak? I guarantee you that if half the people that gay bar were carrying, the story would have a different ending.

I've seen far too many kids like this. Their parents just don't care about themselves, much less their kids. No religious guidance. Nothing. So they rebel against everything.
