Asked if he agreed with Mrs. Clinton's comment, the ex-president told WCBS Radio's Peter Maer: "Oh, absolutely I do. And it had no racial overtones."

=======================================================================

No racial overtones? Said to a black group on MLK birthday. She talks about a plantation and says to them, "...you know what I'm talking about." And the impeached pervert said there were no racial overtones. Just amazing.

Whew, hope she doesn't pull the wrong one, or plug in the wrong one.

I once knew someone who said they worked at Nasa Space Center with a computer as big as a room!.

The first computer I worked on was an Apple back in 1985, it was a piece of junk, looking back now.

The first computer I worked on at work was made by Honeywell. It pumped so much heat out, we had to turn it off in the afternoon because we would sweat to much trying to use it. The screen was green with green text. You would punch in a command and go get a cup of coffee.

One guy I worked with got into an accident after work because his eyes were quivering so bad it messed up his judgment. Everything was recorded to tape.

I lied. I never owned Al Gore's computer.

I was just channeling FR back in '69.

Thanks for telling about that. It is very interesting and amazing how large and ponderous things start out.

We have kept our first cellphone, it looks like something you'd have seen on a battlefield, lol. Large and bulky, kind of like 'Get Smarts' shoephone!!

An interestin fact about early computers. (way off the thread topic but oh well. :)

The Big Iron Holocaust ...
About the time gold was selling for upwards of $800 an ounce, many if not most of the early IBM computers were lost to scrap dealers. This was a time when people were collecting soda pop and beer cans to recycle for charity or pocket change, recycling was all the rage. We are talking about computers designed and built at a time when gold was near $35 per ounce and computers sold for millions of dollars. No one was sure how long they would have to last, so play it safe and gold plate everything! These Systems were designed to last a lifetime or three, in controlled environments. The few remaining systems in the world are a tribute to the technology that went into them. The fact of the matter is that most went to the recyclers after a very short life cycle.

If FR were around then, you would have never heard of Dan Rather.

Rather... Rather... Dan.... Hmmm, can't quite place him. Any links?

You are all great, I would stop by more often. But, I spend a lot of time in another news group. Love how this thread has educated me on old comps, just thought you should know you have a bigger fan base than just the regulars here.
