If anyone knows what strained and unrealistic is, it is the Magic Bullet Man.

Specter's one positive moment came a few weeks ago when he slapped down fat Teddy. Anyone who does that deserves applause. Too bad he's still an idiot.

The congress overreached its authority with FISA. Now they want to claim that the President is overreaching by ignoring their unconstitutional statute.

Watch for squirrel-cheeks to begin citing Scottish law.

The spectre of Spector having any power in the Republican party is nauseating.

Sphincter just loves being in the center of things. 'Pristine Bullet Boy' is an unmitigated publicity hound who will compromise anything or anyone to be a mover and shaker.

He's been a sleazoid for over 40 years in government.

"think that contention is very strained and unrealistic. The authorization for use of force never mentions electronic surveillance," Specter said."

Senator Specter is almost child-like in his reactions. The Congress authorizes war, but he thinks they have to mention "electronic surveillance" by name in order for the president to take specific actions? Isn't that kind of like saying they never mentioned "Capture Sadaam Hussein" or "Set up a new Iraqi government" or "shoot that guy over there who's pointing his weapon at a soldier"?

"I think that contention is very strained and unrealistic. The authorization for use of force never mentions electronic surveillance," Specter said.

This guy is to stupid to be a Senator, the authorization never said anything about detaining terrorists either, but the Supreme Court approved of that. Jeez these guys are unbelievable.

Please consider suspending the no-profanity rule in discussions of Arlen (bleep) Specter.

The spying DID brake the law..

an UNCONSTITUTIONAL law, thus no crime was committed.

Congress can't pass a valid law restricting the Presidents constitutionally granted powers, any more than it can pass a law repealing the bill of rights, it takes a constitutional amendment to do either.

It may violate the FISA law as written (if not as it has been interpreted by every administration since it was enacted), but it does not violate the Constitution. The law violates the Constitution. Constitution is superior to statute.

And the President can violate an unconstitutional law the same way anyone else can. He can do it, and take his chances.

In this case, his "taking chances" saved us from terrorist attacks. If he had gotten a bill in Congress introduced to limit the scope of FISA, the debate would have revealed the methods of gathering intelligence, and the Brooklyn Bridge and who knows what else would have been destroyed.

Let them try to prosecute him or impeach him for violating a law by conduct that was always within a President's rights.

Specter needs to read the Constitution.

The President does not need Congressional approval nor court approval to listen to foreign telephone calls.

Period, end of story.

"I think that contention is very strained and unrealistic. The authorization for use of force never mentions electronic surveillance," Specter said.

Is Scotty really saying Congress never intended the Commander in Chief to authorize electronic surveillance of the enemy? How absolutely silly.

If his legal argument is that an act isn't allowed if it isn't mentioned in the law, then all his arguments in favor of abortion just vaporized.

All anyone needs to know about Arlen Specter is that as a junior attorney on the Warren Commission when his elders hit a wall trying to explain one gunman, he invented the single-bullet theory.

He was full of it then and he's full of it now.
