Brit Hume: Muslim Cartoon Protests 'A Disgrace'
NewsMax ^ | 2/5/06 | NewsMax

Posted on 02/05/2006 10:04:37 AM PST by wagglebee

Fox News Channel "Special Report" anchorman Brit Hume said Sunday that violent demonstrations by radical Muslims protesting five-month-old cartoons depicting the Islamic prophet Mohammed betray a "howling double standard."

"This is really a disgrace," Hume told the panel on "Fox News Sunday." "And it is a disgrace because of the obvious, howling double standard involved here."

"What is striking about this is what offends these Muslims who are protesting and these imams," Hume complained. "Does the slaughter of innocent people in many parts of the world in the name of Allah offend them? Is that a sacrilege worthy of protest?

"No, not in the least," he said.

Hume noted that there has also been no outrage on the Arab street over "the kinds of slurs against Christians and against the Jewish faith that are regularly spread abroad in the Arab world by the mass media and by many of these imams themselves."

Prior to Hume's comments, "Fox News Sunday" aired a shot of the cartoon deemed most offensive by the protesters - a drawing of Mohammed wearing a turban shaped like a bomb.

CNN, on the other hand, has only broadcast images of the cartoons with Mohammed's face digitally distorted beyond recognition.

Thanks wagglebee and good morning. :)

I would pay a mint to know what General Patton would recommend we do about this situation.

"Some in the West who are in a position to know are beginning to say this whole thing looks orchrestrated. Kind of strange the large number of Danish flags found on hand for burning in front of the TV cameras. Something isn't adding up."

I agree with this. The oddities surrounding Jill Carroll's capture, the "sudden" interest in what we've been watching in Iran for eons, Cindy and Hugo, today's "Muslims against Terrorism" march in NYC, the new name for the anti-war movement and the toppling of the Bush statue, etc., etc. It adds up, but to what exactly? And WHO is behind it? THAT is the question. (anyone monitored indymedia lately?)

The cartoons aren't stirring this up. It's clear it was orchestrated. Just like the, who was it, NewsWeek? That ran the Koran story. They didn't riot because of that story.

However, since they are using the cartoons as an excuse, I vote they be posted everwhere and run everywhere. Given what Jews, Christians, etc..put up with I'm not sympathetic.

Wonder what the Left's reaction would be to a hammer and sickle in a beaker of urine? I doubt it would be "tolerance".

>>>The Islamic Society of Denmark made up a couple more fake cartoons and went on a trip to incite violence throughout the Middle East <<<

I have read that they showed them around at the Hadge trying to insite passions against infidels.

Looks like it worked.

Since we're on the subject of Brit Hume, I wandered over to Wikipedia to check his bio. Should have known better! The whole article is a demolition job, even down to the photo...

This is WWIII and the sooner everyone in western society, including the French, the Belgians, the Germans, etc. understand this the sooner we can end this war, on the winning side.

Precisely.

I wrote the following a good while ago:

From my file, "Fire & Blood & Iron:"

The entire West ( dare I say "the civilized World?" ) is locked in a fight to the death with militant Islam.

There will be no second-place winner, no "third way" solution-- it is March or Die time, folks.

It is Us versus an eighth-century "culture" of plunder & pillage, forced religious "conversions," and the mistreatment of women.

The sooner we face up to this fact realistically and quit dancing around PC talking-point nonsense about diversity and tolerance, the better off we'll all be.

We did not pick this fight- which really has roots in Jimmy Carter's appeasement in 1979 of militants- but we had damned well better see it for what it is, and be prepared to face it and finish it.

I'll put it in raw, personal terms-- I don't want Sharia law visited upon my women, and I don't want a goat-roper "culture" infesting my land.

I don't want their vile, nasty, loathsome weapons of mass destruction loosed upon my fair country, either.

They picked the fight, and now it is up to us to finish it- balls to the wall, hammer and anvil, fire and blood and iron... freedom is never, ever free, and the coin you pay it in is men's lives and tears and blood.

What we saw during Gulf War I was our military doctrine ( high tech ) versus Soviet doctrine ( throw a lot of low tech iron at the problem )-- and we all know how that turned out.

What we saw in the 3-Week War is Information-Tech,
( What some are calling it Hyperwarfare... )
or 21st Century warfare versus 20th Century...

What I would suggest, and call your attention to, is the fact that we, and Israel, are capable of waging 21st Century warfare, and the entire Arab world is not.

Proven fact, by recent events.

One more thing- this will be a war where we are all called to be warriors- so I suggest to you that the time has come to get hard, and stay hard... it really is the time for Fire and Blood and Iron...

The simple fact is that these particular muslims are a blood thirsty bunch who revel in violence and death.

They have learned the victim game and the shield that it offers and are using it to the utmost.

They are single minded extremists and can/will not be deterred from their goal of islamic rule over the world with them at the helm.

Brit is one of the few who has had the courage to say it like it is.

It's become an "issue" because they're always looking for an "issue" so they can riot, burn, destroy, hurt, maim, and kill.

You are correct, but this applies to a small but powerful minority in the Muslim World. This group of fanatics is in a committed war against the West. In a war all political means have been exhausted and they will "lie, riot, burn, destroy, hurt, maim and kill." We are not at war with the entire Muslim faith. I have lived in the Middle East and the vast majority of those people just want a house, a job, and to feed there family in peace. However, the media only shows the fanatics and their actions. The West needs to understand that this is a war against us and the fanatics must be killed either by the West or the respective governments of the countries they reside in. These fanatics have no motive for compromise as they think if they are killed in this war it is non stop to heaven and paradise which is a far more desirable than the present squalid existence they lead. Another factor in this war is the corrupt govenments of many (not all) Middle Eastern Countries. If they can set up an enemy (The West) for their people to be obsessed with these same people will not turn against their own government. A case in point is the recent Palestinian Authority. About half the money that was given by the West has been squandered and stolen. The leadership of the Palestinian Authority stole it and incited hatred against the West as a diversion from their own corruption.

Do you have any idea why this has suddenly become an issue. Were the cartoons recently re-printed?

Yes, the Muslims finally realized what an ugly MOFO Mohammad really was ;-)

Something isn't adding up.

Then their is the strange episode of the reporting of the State Department's statement on the matter. We stories in different outlets quoting 4 different "spokespersons" for the State Department, whereas only one actually said the words, which were taken very much out of context to make it appear as if the US thought the cartoons should have been censored. Three of the four were very low level members of the public affairs department at state, the one who really uttered the words, at Friday's press briefing which anyone can watch at the state department web site was the Chief spokesman for State. One story reported that the statement was read as part of a prepared statement, but actually it was in response to a question.

I know the MSM has great difficulty getting things right, but in the context of a formal press briefing, there is no excuse for not doing so, unless it's being done deliberately.

Something definitely doesn't add up!

I have to tell you, I've been thinking the same thing. If only I could draw.

In this case quality of the image doesn't count. Quantity of images and quality of the "message" do.
