The Third Reich had a significant chance of conquering the rest of the world. If one or two factors had gone the other way, they might have actually done so.

The entire Islamic world, even if it were united in a new Caliphate, would have no chance of accomplishing this.

They could destroy a few western cities with nukes. They could try nuclear blackmail. It might even work for a while. But there is absolutely no possibility of their conquering the West.

Let us at least recognize the fact that there is a difference between people who don't want to face the fact that others are forcing them into a fight, and whether the same people will fight when actually backed into a corner. Luckily, the Islamists are so stupid that they will keep pushing until Europeans realize they are in a corner.

IMHO, nobody has ever provided a logical scenario in which Islam conquers the West militarily.

Gradual demographic replacement in Europe over the next 50 years is, unfortunately, a different story, but is not what Rummy was talking about.

I think Rummy's got it right. Islam is more political than other religions, and has a history of imperialism, but it's not Islam per se that is the threat. The Islamist fanatics are are little different from the commies and the nazis.

It's the same old, tired idea. We can make the world perfect. This, coincidentally, requires me and my friends and family to have unlimited power and money.

Despite what many think, Rumsfeld and Bush are handling this exactly how it should be handled. You don't give the enemy any unnessesary ammo he can use to bring even more radicals to his cause and in the process make your job even more difficult. I don't believe for one minute that either Rumsfeld or Bush really believe their public utterances about islam being a 'peaceful' religion - IMO they are using their rhetoric to deny the enemy the verbal ammo he so desperately wants to rally his troops with.

Let Bush & Cheney say all the sweet things they want to about islam in public, as long as in private they're doing everything in their power to defeat it.

Amen, I've said for years this would be a war if Radical Islam against the Western and modern worlds.

IMO, the pictures of the cult leader Mohammad and the vast radical reaction is quite revealing in regards to supposed Muslim moderates.
I think there are at least 75-90% radicals throughout their culture and religion and we have to be ready to stop another Hitler like take over of the world by Radical Islam.

A political hedge. My take is that 1) a minority of Muslims are willing to co-exist with western civilization 2) a larger minority are not, and 3) the majority of Muslims may be more sympatheric with the latter than the former and are certainly intimidated by the latter.

Referring to Islam as a "Religion of Peace" was unnecessary and absurd...

ITMT, Islamist immigrants have poured into America by the hundreds of thousands since 9/11. There should have been a moritorium on Muslim immigration AND Mexican immigration while we're at it -- and STILL ought to be.
