I don't have any airbags today, either. The first thing I do is pull the fuse on that government-mandated deathtrap.
I have a better idea. Yank the fuse on the airbag.
Sheesh! we knew that. LOL!
But look at the progression from no seat belts, steel dashboards, then padded dashes, then seat belts, (for kids, the back seat, then the car seat), the airbag, then the laws start....somewhere in there they did away with driver's education in the school system in favor of putting condoms on pickles and teaching 'diversity', and people are still getting slaughtered.
I have a driver's ed book from 1936, one of the earlier editions of 'Man and the Motor Car'. The basics have not changed.
Drive at speeds appropriate for conditions. Avoid impact with other vehicles and fixed objects. Avoid maneuvers which will cause your vehicle to roll over.
Tires, brakes, suspensions, traction control, headlights, transmissions, engines, mirrors, even windshields, wipers, and visibility have all improved.
The driver is another story, imo. I think people drive more like idiots because they are under the impression they are 'safe' because of all the geegaws in their vehicle.
The laws are just a tedious revenue enhancement device intended by some to replace common sense.
Helped a lady who got t boned in a ford taurus in Federal Way Washington years ago; the steering whl air bag cover ripped the skin off both her forearms and the explosive charge burned her on top of that. I think they have made them better since then (this was early 90s).
No doubt driver ed is beneficial. It's the other guy who you don't know about. Although given this is Britney Speared, that baby is in deaths lap. That law is in place to protect the baby from people like her; people who aren't able to protect them for themselves for whatever reason.
But whether you or I like her...doesn't matter...
..but there are tons of bubble gum wannabe's watching, emulating her every waking moment.
Let's not encourage her to set bad examples for others...
..Let's not let her get a pass on this!
Yes, I agree in part about some things in the past...
..nothing was more fun than to fly down the less traveled streets on my bike, with my poneytail flying along behind....it was exhilarating!..so freeing!
Alas, those times are gone....along with my being able to play outside, with my friends, as a little girl and without adult supervision....because the neighborhood was kid friendly and everyone watched out for everyone else.
...But it's over....gone with the wind.
Now it seems there are sexual predators everywhere.
FreeRepublic is made up of many shades of the political rainbow. Very few are 'originalists' though. IMO. You see all kinds of personality tests on the internet. I would love to see one in FR that would show who/what each of us are and have that designation automatically added to each Freeper name that took the test! It would be interesting, to say the least.
It was the paparazzi's fault, according to an exclusive interview with Britney on the People home page.
That reminded me. We had an 02 GMC Sierra that you could turn the passenger air bag off. Now we have an 05 (same thing) that you cannot. Makes me go "huh".
Well, God forbid it be HER fault. rme
Or hang him out, blindfolded, over a hotel railing....
LOL - GMTA - see my post directly above ;-).
Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the Croc man and the baby incident.
All you need to learn/remember is....
¡Idiota estúpido!

Or more like paralysis from the resultant broken neck (the more likely result, quite honestly).
OK, I'll bite.... here goes...
Actually ..... Britney DID say she was going to go on the campaign circuit with Bush during the 2004 campaign season until she apparently got so much pressure from the lefty LA/Hollywood music scene that she backed off.....
And, oh yeah..... she's a BOTTLE blonde. Big difference.
That's EXACTLY what I keep telling my 3 teenage (novice driver) kids.
:o)Thanks! I'll tape that to my dash.
