Check my logic,reasoning and/or knowledge of the facts but it seems to me that the lapse in reaction time actually supports rather than diminishes their claim.

I think they are saying that someone riled up the troops long after the fact and are speculating that the Hamas victory triggered an effort to incite anger among the followers of Muhammed.
