I'd be happy to go but they won't have me any more. Wars always seem to be for young men and now young women.
Although I would gladly trade places with ANY young man or woman in Walter Reed or Bethesda just to make them whole again, I know that it can't happen.
I seriously doubt that I am the only veteran that feels this way and would probably have to get in a LONG line. Please hug him and let him know that there many old veterans that would gladly give their lives so that more could come home and raise families.

I have discussed this exact issue in the Canteen.
On the one hand, I am sorry that they have to go at all, pray for them and wish that none of them would come to harm.
On the other hand, I envy them exactly because I cannot be there with them.
Needless to say, it is a very frustrating feeling every time I think about it.
