- "She's the most unbelievable actress I have ever met," said a woman who worked on Hillary's Senate campaign. "I remember one time at a Women's Leadership Forum event in New York, thirty of us sat around Hillary, talking about politics. And she said, 'You know, I love this organization, not just because we sit around and talk about politics, but because of the bonds of friendship forming around us.' The way she said it, people were riveted by her performance. But I had gotten to know her, and I could tell she didn't mean it. She has this unbelievable ability to be a liar. She is soulless."

Essay: Blizzard of Lies
By WILLIAM SAFIRE
Americans of all political persuasions are coming to the sad realization that our First Lady -- a woman of undoubted talents who was a role model for many in her generation -- is a congenital liar. Drip by drip, like Whitewater torture, the case is being made that she is compelled to mislead, and to ensnare her subordinates and friends in a web of deceit. 1. Remember the story she told about studying The Wall Street Journal to explain her 10,000 percent profit in 1979 commodity trading? We now know that was a lie told to turn aside accusations that as the Governor's wife she profited corruptly, her account being run by a lawyer for state poultry interests through a disreputable broker. She lied for good reason: To admit otherwise would be to confess taking, and paying taxes on, what some think amounted to a $100,000 bribe. 2. The abuse of Presidential power known as Travelgate elicited another series of lies.... 3. In the aftermath of the apparent suicide of her former partner and closest confidant, White House Deputy Counsel Vincent Foster... [h]er closest friends and aides, under oath, have been blatantly disremembering this likely obstruction of justice, and may have to pay for supporting Hillary's lie with jail terms. Again, the lying was not irrational. Investigators believe that damning records from the Rose Law Firm, wrongfully kept in Vincent Foster's White House office, were spirited out in the dead of night and hidden from the law for two years -- in Hillary's closet... The records show Hillary Clinton was lying when she denied actively representing a criminal enterprise known as the Madison S.& L., and indicate she may have conspired with Web Hubbell's father-in-law to make a sham land deal that cost taxpayers $3 million... By concealing the Madison billing records two days beyond the statute of limitations, Hillary evaded a civil suit by bamboozled bank regulators.... "Why didn't she just come clean at the beginning?" She had good reasons to lie; she is in the longtime habit of lying; and she has never been called to account for lying herself or in suborning lying in her aides and friends.... excerpt COMPLETE ARTICLE |

No escape? Hmmm.
I'm sure we can all think of an especially appropriate place to do just that bump.

"You know... the job which we should have done 1... which should have been our primary focus, to find [you know] bin Laden and eliminate al Qaeda." hillary clinton Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 Chitchat with Jane Pauley San Francisco, CA

"Mr. bin Laden used to live in Sudan. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia in '91 and he went to the Sudan. We'd been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start dealing with them again. They released him [bin Laden]. At the time, '96, he had committed no crime against America, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America. So I pleaded with the Saudis to take him, 'cause they could have; but they thought it was a hot potato. They didn't and that's how he wound up in Afghanistan." bill clinton Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002 Clinton Reveals on Secret Audio: I Nixed Bin Laden Extradition Offer

"I remember exactly what happened. Bruce Lindsey said to me on the phone, 'My God, a second plane has hit the tower.' And I said, 'Bin Laden did this.' that's the first thing I said. He said, 'How can you be sure?' I said 'Because only bin Laden and the Iranians could set up the network to do this and they [the Iranians] wouldn't do it because they have a country in targets. Bin Laden did it.' I thought that my virtual obsession 2 with him was well placed and I was full of regret that I didn't get him." bill clinton Sunday, Sept 3, 2002 Larry King Live

hether it's caused by a one-dimensional mindset 3... or by the seductive, ego-inflating unreality of a sycophantic host and fawning audience... or simply by the belief that they are answerable to no one,4 this much is certain: The frequency and intensity of clinton acts of stupidity vary directly with the friendliness of the venue.
Witness the latest: Missus clinton's San Francisco chitchat with Jane Pauley 5. Intended to hoist a sinking ship,6 the "interview" instead added another anchor to the already leaden weight of a clinton--the banality, the corruption12 and the utter failure10 --not to mention the oxymoronically perverse hillary entitlement. 4 Pauley, alternating between straight man and tortuous prop, was truly an embarrassment. And the usual droning-when-not-screeching,11 midwestern-twanged-except-when-g-droppin'-preachin'-to-blacks-or-rubes 7 missus clinton was her usual arrogant, banal self, a familiar affect, which she invariably punctuates--just in case--with congruous and correspondingly condescending thematic attire. Gingham-cum-flag-pin is her standard rube/red-state garb. 8 Predictably, missus clinton donned a mandarin-collared shirt--no flag pin in sight--to pander to the Asian-infused, ultra-left-wing San Francisco set. But she forgot, apparently, to look in the mirror: The image on the screen was more Mao than mandarin 9. Yet some would argue, perversely, that the Mao look was, in fact, precisely what made her choice of attire absolutely perfect. This is the first in a series of (oops!) inadvertent disclosures made by the not very swift missus clinton during her chitchat with Jane Pauley in the city by the bay.
