SACRAMENTO Republican activists efforts to get their party to formally denounce Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneggers policies are gaining momentum, but not their proposal to yank the GOPs endorsement of him for the November election.
The chairman of the state party in recent days agreed to help get three proposed resolutions against the governors budget, public works and minimum wage hike plans a "full and fair hearing" at the GOP convention in San Jose later this month. Party chairman Duf Sundheim helped tweak the resolutions over the weekend so that they now avoid any direct attack against Schwarzenegger.
"There are 1,400 members so rather than just have resolutions reflect one persons point of views, lets try to get as large a consensus as possible," Sundheim said of the changes, which give the resolutions a better shot at being passed.

The party RINOs don't want to acknowledge Arnold's political U-Turn lest it reflect on them.

Thanks for posting these California/Schwarzy threads. They keep us all of us informed.
>>>>But he did not address the most contentious proposal raised by the activists: yanking the Republican endorsement of Schwarzenegger, who is seeking re-election, and criticizing his appointments of non-Republicans to judgeships.
Kick the bum out!

I would jump all over Arnold, and push for a primary opponent, except for the fact that Tom McClintock is supporting Arnold. I trust Tom, and if he has analyzed the situation and determined we are better off with Arnold than fighting against him, then I will go with that.

My suspicion is that the GUb is running to get elected fair and square and will likely leave office before completing a full term, thus Tom is playing the cards dealt him.

I don't think either Westly or Angelides are shoe-ins , no matter who they run against.
This one is , as you say, going to be lost by being too cute, hence why I don't think too highly of this upcoming batch of races or candidates on either side, except for Tom.
He is literally both an odd man in and out .. while he may master the facts before all of us, he is by no means a master of his own fate as it should be.
Don't ya just love what politics have come to in this state?

push for a primary opponent, except for the fact that Tom McClintock is supporting Arnold Senator McClintock:
1) favors an open Republican primary.
2) disapproves that the CPR closed the Republican primary.
3) supports Schwarzenegger's candidacy under the present circumstances.
4) is critical of the majority of Schwarzenegger's policies
To: NormsRevenge
I don't think too highly of this upcoming batch of races or candidates on either side, except for Tom. Our nominee for Attorney general is going to be Senator Chuck Poochigian who's a rock-solid conservative and one of the nicest people to ever serve in the legislature.

I, as many, have some educating to be done re: all the candidates. Thanks!
I yield the remainder of my broad brush to the next poster. ;-)

Right. And I agree with Sen. McClintock on all of those things. He also wrote a letter that said something to the effect that Republicans need to do everything possible to re-elect Schwartzennegger, and that sniping will be counterproductive. That being the case, it seems to me that efforts like this would be what McClintock is trying to discourage.
I'd be happy to see a challenge from a real Republican. I'd support it. But if that's not going to happen, then I will go along with Tom. It doesn't matter much anyway; Arnold has pissed off the GOP so much that it's going to be hard for him to get re-elected. He'll have to get a huge chunk of the Dem vote to do it. If the Dems run someone halfway decent (which I wouldn't count on them to do) Arnold will go down easy, ending his short political career.
Arnold, Arnold. You claimed to be a fan of Ronald Reagan, yet you never learned anything from him.

I've been disappointed in CA politics and the stupidity of the conservative side for a while.
Seems they need to get their acts in gear especially concerning grass roots growth of the party among kids and all the young adults.
Democrats are buying the votes with public employment and extreme over payments to union members, so we are up against a lot.

They are going to be too cute by half and get Democrats elected.Yep. Then the Democrats will be the ones to pass Arnold's proposals.
