Former state Rep. Jeff Habay, R-Shaler, was sentenced yesterday to six to 12 months in prison and four years' probation for ordering his staff to conduct campaign work on state time.

The sentencing by Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning came just hours after Mr. Habay, a six-term legislator, resigned his $69,647-a-year seat.

Good luck to Mr. Habay for his next trial, now scheduled to begin on February 17. What a wasted life-- a Republican politician who resigns from office in disgrace, in order to preserve his Government paid pension. Even Rick Santorum and other local Republican politicos in the 'burgh have given up on this guy.

It's just a shame they don't bother going after the dimocrat crooks. But, then again, they wouldn't have enough jails in Pennsylvania to hold them.

The jails are filling up so fast with convicted Republican pols and white collar criminals that the justice system is overwhelmed. Democrats believe in the system, Republicans constantly try to cheat it. That's why there are so few convicted Democrats compared with the numerous jailed and indicted card-carrying Republicans.

There is something funny about just about any Allegheny County judge sentencing anyone for this sort of ethical lapse. I saw several of them using the staff and resources of County offices for campaigns to get their seats on the court.

I saw the same thing in several row offices. This may be a crime, but it is Standard Operating Procedure in Allegheny County/Pittsburgh.

DEAN'S DEBACLE

Democratic National Committee (DNC) fund raising under the chairmanship of Howard Dean shows a disappointing $16.7 million raised in the first quarter of 2005, compared with $34 million reported by the Republicans.

That tends to confirm dire predictions by old-line Democratic fund-raisers of a fall-off in money if Dean became chairman. He had promised to bring in heavy individual contributions, as he did in his 2004 campaign for president. But the DNC in the first quarter received only $13 million from individuals, compared to $31 million for the Republican National Committee (RNC).

Courtesy of a Jun 05 Hill News article:

Three top fundraisers at the Democratic National Committee have resigned at a time when its chairman, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, has come under fire from fellow Democrats for controversial comments and his Republican counterpart has raised more than twice as much money.

From Open Secrets:

DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE 2005-2006 Election Cycle

Raised:
$56,052,467

Spent:
$56,242,400

Cash On Hand:
$5,861,879

REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE 2005-2006 Election Cycle

Raised:
$105,382,505

Spent:
$86,078,563

Cash On Hand:
$33,971,253

How's that for some fuzzy math, Ma?!? ROTFLMAO!!! Fortunately for you, the Senate numbers are significantly better for the Dems. It would appear that they're putting all their eggs in one basket for '06.

Don't you think it's funny that all of the white collar crime took place when Clintoon was president and they were caught by the Bush Justice Department? Nah, of course you don't. That must be the best thing about being a 'rat. You don't have to worry about little things like truth and logic.

I should add that in every case, the judge and/or row officer was a Democrat...it is Pittsburgh, after all.

I just did, regarding convicted Republican Party politician, Jeff Habay. If you or the author of another post #8 in this tread insinuating unproven misconduct by Democrats have any information to prove your scurrilous assertions, you are welcome to include post such information here.

Wrong. Try again. One example does not back up your nonsensical bilge.

Traficant. There, we're tied 1-1.

Surprise, surprise, Lynn Swann and other rich white guys here in Pennsylvania have raised more money to promote their lies than the working person's party has raised to tell the truth. The Democratic Party is in excellent shape as evidenced by recent polls showing them ahead of Republicans by a 51-37 margin.

Were all the Soros paid elected members of US Congress resigned in disgrace there would not be enough for a quorum.

So Lynn Swann is white? Really? I was unaware of that. Thank you.

But exactly how does your mindless warbling above even come close to backing up your blatantly false assertion regarding convicted politicians, Coward?
