DENMARK'S largest newspaper ran a double truck (two facing pages in the middle of a newspaper section) of editorial cartoons mocking Muslims last September.
The point was that in a multicultural society, all cultures must be big enough to mock.
September, October, November, December, January . . . suddenly the Muslim world is aflame in protest.
Being above the age of 12, I quickly surmised that this is not about cartoons at all.
The cartoons are an excuse by Muslim leaders and a few dictators who want to use this to pressure European nations into submission.
This is about democracy and freedom.
The Muslim protesters want none of that secularist stuff. They do what man has done since the dawn of civilization and oppose change.
The cartoons are very crude. The editor of the Danish newspaper has since apologized. I would publish them only to protest the protest.
That is not necessary. Americans know the cartoons are not worth all the fuss.
Both the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Arab League have demanded that the United Nations impose sanctions on Denmark.
Now I will not go into the whole catalog of anti-Jewish cartoons that plague official newspapers in the dictatorial states that run from Tunisia to Indonesia.
The pots calling the kettles are self-evident.
But what is also self-evident is American hypocrisy. The six members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff just protested a cartoon in the Washington Post by Tom Toles.
Who the hell are they? Go back to running the war on terrorism, fellas.
To use the official military letterhead to protest is a deliberate act of government bullying. The secretary of agriculture may get away with this, but he is a civilian.
Besides, he does not have tanks or battleships.
Their complaint is not about a silly cartoon. Their complaint is that the public has turned on this war.
And the Muslim protest is not about a bunch of stupid cartoons, either.
They protest having to respect other religions in their own lands. They have calculated that Europe can be cowed into abandoning the religious tolerance that has guided the continent in recent centuries. Protestants and Catholics seldom war these days.
If Europeans cannot criticize Muslims, then the Islamic religion will have a higher place in Europe than competing religions.
Which is why Flemming Rose, the cultural editor of the Denmark's largest newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, commissioned the cartoons. Rose sought the cartoons to protest "self-censorship" (an oxymoron) and political correctness.
The editor should never have run them.
Here is why that was such a bad idea: Political cartoons are dynamite. They need no words to get their point across. That makes them translate into other languages easily.
Cartoonist Thomas Nast in the 19th century brought down Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall with a series of wickedly funny cartoons. Tweed's voters may have been illiterate, but they could read a cartoon.
Tweed eventually fled to Spain.
I know not how this will play out. But it seems to me the people behind these protests are a bunch of Boss Tweeds in places like Iran.
Don is one of the good guys. Feel free to drop him a line.
"This is about democracy and freedom. "
No, this is about annihilation of the west. We are just getting a hint of the seething anger these freaks will wrought. As things continue to go awry, more countries will continue to cow-tow. If we start experiencing it here, we need to mobilize the guard and shoot on sight.
Calling out the guard won't do much help there.
Oh, we aren't talking about PTA meetings. The 2nd amendment is not just laying around for nothing. Our forefathers had some forethought.

Protest with your money! I said before and will say again. I am going to Danemark(Denmark) this weekend and will joyfully spend any amount of money you wish to send me.
This part of Germany was Danish off and on, back and forth, for a long time. I am about 40 minutes to the border and will be visiting Sunday.
Going to be very vocal about why I am there. "Hi, I am an American and I would like your best beer. By the way, Do you know anyplace I can spend like a mad man? You guys rock!"
Muslims are such pussies. They can dish it out, but they can't take it.

OPINION: That's right.
It's not about cartoons.

So...sticking up for the troops in the field that you lead is bullying? I suggest the author does not know the true meaning of bullying. Maybe some dedicated Marines can pay the cartoonist and unofficial visit. Then we can discuss the meaning of bullying!
Should read...Don is one of the good guys who condones the denigration of the people who are losing life and limbs to keep his sorry ass free. Feel free to drop him a line
And exactly how does that make you different than the rioting Muslims?
Hmmm...let me count the ways...
1. I don't riot, I am a riot.
2. I take a shower every morning (and even brush my teeth)
3. I use toilet paper properly.
4. I do not carry a carpet around with me everywhere I go.
5. I respect some Arab women
6. I respect some religions (other than my own).
6. I can read and write a language properly.
7. I don't like my wife to dress up like the Grim Reaper every day (only when I am a bad boy).
8. My kids will never attend a Suicide Bombing 101 class, even if Saddam offers me $50k!
9. I respect all United States service members regardless of religion, race, and gender.
10. I disrespect cowards who use their religion or cult (read liberalism) to justify their nefarious actions because they are bitter losers and hate the good people on the Earth!
Let me know if you want the rest of the list!
