The inherent power argument, if you take it to the natural conclusion, there is no role for Congress in a time of war," he (Graham) said.

Not a bad idea...just send all the congress critters home.

"The only person I call a RHINO on a national level is that idiot Chaffee.
Chaffee is not an idiot. Yes, rino is correct, but not an idiot."

Chafee.

"Check this for Graham's lifetime ACU rating of 91. Hardly in the same universe as Dean.

http://www.acuratings.org/statedelegation.asp?state=sc"

You're braves defending Graham, for some reason (mostly if not soley the whole gang of 14 thing) many here don't like him. I do, he especially did a great job exposing the left during the Alito confirmation.

<<" Is the last paragraph about Vice President Cheney's reception remotely true?"

It is BS.

Dick Cheney Fires Up Crowd at CPAC>>

Better yet from Rocco DiPippo's blogging of CPAC he provides us with a short video clip of the speech when he's speaking of the wiretaps.

http://antiprotester.blogspot.com/2006/02/cpac-day-one.html
(the link to the video is a bit below the pic of Cheney)

direct link: http://antiprotester.com/cheneyclip1.wmv

Doesn't sound like "restrained applause" in this excerpt to me.

Thanks, you can't expect a fair shake from the NY Times. Their aim is to sow discord and gloom among conservatives.

When lindsey Grahams credentials are being attacked without much evidence yeah I would call that "far right". Just because Graham realizes that he has to work with Democrats to get legislation passed does not make him in my book some traitor to the Constition. I have yet to figure out what he has done to get everyone upset. In fact this thread has shown me that no one can point out anything to show he isnt a conservative.

Yeah I agree with you. I am a pretty conservative guy but it seems sometimes now one pass some conservative purity test nowadays. I see this esp on the issue of immigration and illegal immigration which are popular topics on here. Its like I agree with 90 percent of what is being said but its the 10 percent that makes me recoil in disgust. But to question the 10 percent your suddenally some RHINO or something

The facts refute a claim he isn't conservative (enough). He is a bit maverick, but on balance he's on the conservative side almost all of the time.

A few here recognized early on that the "14" thing was mostly an upside for Bush's nominees. Again, the facts prove it to be so.

(McCain's ACU rating is about 73, which is still conservative much of the time, but falling short of pleasing conservatives).

Unless a "true conservative" like Allen, Brownback, Coburn, Pence secures big-time name recognition by primary time, the choice might go with McCain or Guiliani because they have drawing power with democrats and independents.

We Conservatives may not agree on everything 100% of the time, but we are united against anti-Americanism (dims are the poster-boy for this).

If a dim tries to get involved in our discussions, they will find themselves in a similar fix as if they had tried to come between two brothers fighting. The "outsider" will get his ass whipped by both brothers EVERYTIME!

dims are in a full court lying mode, and America is not gobbling their tripe any longer. The more they are ignored, the more desperate they get. The more desperate they get, the more mistakes that they make.

GOD I love it when dims are out of power. I pray we keep them that way for decades!

What's important nd notable is that the Times is covering CPAC..paying attention to it..unlike the earlier ones..

I like Newt, but he is far away from what we in the base truly think. If you disagree, watch an interview next time he appears with Bill O'Reilly.

Newt is far too "beltway" to have his hand on our pulse.

"The Slimes wouldn't see reality, if it were biting its collective noses."

The real problem is that even when they do see it, it's through a distorted lens. Everything they see is so twisted it's like a funhouse mirror.

I think it's very healthy that conservatives disagree on things and then have a rational debate over the issues. Far better than the many liberals who, while exhorting youth to "Question Authority", never manage to question or examine the dictates of their own party.

Sorry, you don't know Lindsey Graham very well, and I'm not a go along to get along type of person.

I'll do you even one better, I'll get my black democratic voting friends and relatives to vote conservative. I'll have an easier time doing it too if the RINOs keep their big mouths shut.

You are being unfair. Dean has much more respect for gun rights than Graham or McCain.

LOL! I stand corrected!
