Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov warned in a newspaper interview on Thursday against international confrontation with Iran over its nuclear programme, saying it would have "irreversible" consequences.
"We will never allow for a confrontation which which could lead to conflict," Ivanov said in the interview with Italy's La Stampa newspaper, ahead of talks between Russia and Iran in Moscow next week over the controversial programme.
"Any attempt to push Iran to a show of force could have irreversible consequences," he said.

Isnt Russia such a good friend to the west. /sarcasm For one it doesnt matter if you allow anything. You do not control the US and the EU. Second if you side with Iran then the stage is set for what everyone knews was going to happen sooner or later. If that is your position Russia then we will do what we must.SCO allliance.

Please; the Russians have never been an "ally" and it's time to break THAT illusion. The US MUST NEVER ALLOW THE MULLAHS IN IRAN TO GET THEIR HANDS ON THE BOMB. This is in our interests and we should tell the Russian and the Chinese for that matter to "F--- OFF"!!!!

Interesting now isn't it that Russia is the entity that helped provided Iran with nuclear to begin with.
One has to wonder what exactly the oil contracts they had with old Saddam involved.

To Hell with them and their Islamo-fascist brothers!

Hopefully when Russia finishes suppling Iran with Nuke capabilities that the 1 bomb is delivered back to them via Chenchya cause that is what they truely deserve for getting into bed with the devil.

My guess is that the Iranian jihadists owe the Russians a bunch of money for nuclear technology.

The Russians are just positioning themselves for more bribes, like signing on to Kyoto in order to get $ for carbon credits. They objected to the war in Iraq but didn't do anything.

I suspect this is a poker faced move to give Iran a false sense of security or it's a prelude to the end-times. You decide.

Ha, Ha, Ha, Mr Putin, you lay flaccid to stop any military action by the west. The Great Grand Soviet Army is no more, and in its place is a house of cards. So go on, huff and puff like the Chinese about Taiwan. Neither of you has the capability to stop a intervention in Iran or independence in Taiwan. Don't count on the Russians to do anything more than talk because their history is one of letting friends swing in the wind. The ideology of the modern age now isn't Communism, it is SELF INTEREST.

On 23 August, 1939, the world was shocked when, suddenly, Russia and Germany signed a Non-aggression Pact. People would have been even more shocked if they had known at the time that, in addition, the two countries had a secret agreement to invade and divide Poland between them.
In hind view, Russia's actions should shock no one. If history is any indication of the future.... well we already know the outcome.
