The change was made to not have the Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics in the same year anymore, and instead have the Olympics on in some form every other year.

The NBC annoucer's suit and hair have some silver something in it that is driving my DLP TV crazy. Any one else?
You too? I noticed the same thing. I think he has a checkered suit on which plays havoc with the NTSC color TV system we use. That's why you get a silver effect although it is tough for me to explain. I'm watching the games on a 1982 Zenith 25" color TV.
