OH...I know...of course it is so different now...when we were young..it was the USA against the Soviets and East Germany...and it was SO not done for those countries to "get along"...

and so having the athletes competing against each other, without major war breaking out, was a truly miraculous thing..

I also remember when both Olympics were 4 years apart...and it was so hard to wait...but, now, with Summer and Winter alternating every 2 years the anticipation doesn't have as much time to grow...

I really hope your grandchildren enjoy these like I did...mine are too young I think..unless my 6 year old is...but I don't know.

Seriously, Belirus newspaper put out an advertisement months ago. "Wanna be on the Olympic Team?, tryouts next week". I only know that because my friend was there. They had to advertise to get participants.

Why does the announcer keep saying that we will not miss any of the countries' entrances during commercial breaks, when it is 3:45 in Turin right now and we are watching a tape of a parade that took place about 5 hours ago!!!

does he think the NBC audience is that stupid?
